Kelly Ripa Reveals Mark Consuelos Is Already Planning for Their Future Grandkids
Mark Consuelos is ready for his family of five with Kelly Ripa to expand.
“Are we gonna spoil the grandkids?” Consuelos asked on the Tuesday, August 12, episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, which was prerecorded. “What grandkids are you talking about?” Ripa replied before joking, “The theoretical grandkids?”
Ripa noted that their three kids — Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22 — are “not ready yet” to become parents. “You’re always talking about grandkids. He’s like, ‘And then, we’ll build a bunk room for the grandkids,'” she stated. “And I’m like, ‘Calm down, chief. They need to have a second date first.”
While the couple may have to wait a bit longer to become grandparents, they agreed that they will “spoil” their future grandchildren. “Of course. Yeah. That’s our whole job. But we’re not gonna go against the parents’ rules,” Ripa said.
Consuelos said he will especially spoil Lola’s future kids to “get back at her” for giving him and Ripa a “run for our money” growing up.

“I’m gonna tell you something right now, and don’t tell our sons. But if they had any idea — and they can never know this — if they had any idea how much more money we spent on Lola, in the care and feeding of Lola, than we did on the boys,” Ripa told the Live studio audience. “The boys, it was like, ‘Joaquin. Here, this is your brother’s from eight years ago. It should kind of fit you. Roll up the bottoms. You’ll be fine.'”
She continued, “Lola [was] the only girl, and if I didn’t give it to her, she went to you. If you didn’t give it to her, she went to one of the grandparents, and they were like, ‘Of course.’ She was very, you know, she knows how to seal the deal. We used to be amazed at that skillset.”
While Michael and Joaquin’s current love life statuses are currently unknown, Lola went public with her boyfriend, Cassius Kidston, in 2023.
Last year, Ripa and Consuelos opened up about their kids bringing their significant others on a family vacation. “That was really weird!” Consuelos quipped on a January 2024 episode of Live before stating, “No, it was great, it was great. I never thought it would happen.”
“I have to say, our kids have such good taste,” Ripa went on to note, to which Consuelos added, “They have good pickers.”
Consuelos said that he and Ripa “love” their kids’ partners in a March 2024 interview with People. “I was just really thrilled and honored that my kids would want to spend time with me and my wife,” he said of the vacation. “And not be embarrassed by bringing their boyfriend or a girlfriend around.”
