‘AGT’: Jessica Sanchez’s Husband Has Been Her ‘Rock’ as She Competes While Pregnant
There’s a lot going on at the moment for Jessica Sanchez. Not only is she about to start competing in the live shows for Season 20 of America’s Got Talent, but she’s also expecting her first child with husband Rickie Gallardo.
Jessica and Rickie met in 2017 and secretly got married in 2021. Now, as she makes a major return to music after taking a much-needed break from the industry, he’s supporting her every step of the way.
“I was chasing the dream a little too hard before I met [Rickie], and I kind of lost sight of why I was chasing the dream,” Jessica tells Swooon. I was kind of chasing the dream because I felt like that’s what I needed to do, and that was what was normal to do. But there wasn’t really a purpose with it.”

However, she said Rickie “always believed in” her and has been her “biggest rock and foundation” on her AGT journey. “He was there with me throughout the whole thing and coming back stronger, knowing who I am … he has been pushing me, too, and helping me challenge myself and giving me all of the affirmations I need to keep going,” Jessica dished. “As a woman, you can definitely feel low sometimes and doubt yourself, but I really am so grateful for my husband.”
Jessica found out she was pregnant just days after she decided she was going to audition for AGT earlier this year. She was previously on the first season of the show in 2006 when she was just 10 years old. She made it to the Semifinals before being eliminated. In 2012, Jessica also finished as the runner-up on Season 11 of American Idol.
All these years later, she’s learned a lot about herself and is ready to take this step once again. Taking some time away seems to have paid off, as Jessica received Sofia Vergara‘s Golden Buzzer for her audition performance, which meant she automatically earned a spot in the live shows. She’ll return for her Quarterfinals performance on the September 2 episode.
