Maury Povich is getting back to his confrontational roots. The veteran journalist put his wife, Connie Chung, in the hot seat in the very first episode of his new podcast by bringing up her romantic history. One of the A-listers he name-dropped? Actor Warren Beatty.

In the On Par episode, Povich and his news anchor wife looked back on how they became a TV power couple. Their conversation was posted about four months ago, but the clip of Povich calling out Chung’s fling started recirculating on X this week.

The Maury host got candid about Chung’s rise to fame in the ’80s. “You became a big star, and you kinda messed around with stars,” he said, which prompted Chung to clap back. “You didn’t?” she asked. “I think you can name a few.”

Laughing it off, Povich denied crossing any lines, but he didn’t let up on Chung. “You messed around with them,” the 88-year-old teased, adding that Chung discussed said relationships in her 2024 memoir. Chung referred to several suitors in the book, including actor Ryan O’Neal and the Eagles’ Glenn Frey, but Povich pointed out Beatty specifically.

“You know what my sister said about Warren Beatty?” he quipped. “Every woman who came to California had to go through him. It was like an immigration system.”

The couple, who’ve been married since 1984, didn’t get into when exactly Beatty pursued Chung. They have, however, spoken about the early stages of their relationship, when they openly saw other people. “Beatty called [Chung] frequently. So did Marlon Brando,” Povich told the Washington Post of the period before they got serious.
