Who Should Be the ‘ACOTAR 6’ Main Character? (POLL)

A Court of Thorns and Roses Book 6 Lead Theories

[Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.]

Ever since she posted the vague message “First drafts DONE,” fans have been eagerly awaiting any news Sarah J. Maas will give us about her next ACOTAR book.

A Court of Thorns and Roses follows Feyre, a human hunter brought into the magical Fae world to pay a life debt to the High Lord of the Spring Court. While the first book chronicles Feyre’s romance at Spring Court with High Lord Tamlin, the real drama begins in Book 2, A Court of Mist and Fury, when Rhysand, the High Lord of the Night Court, sweeps newly-Fae Feyre away to Velaris, the City of Starlight.

With a sprawling world and a beloved cast of characters, it’s no wonder that Maas expanded her ACOTAR series beyond Feyre’s trilogy. In 2021, the Throne of Glass author published A Court of Silver Flames, which is told from Feyre’s sister Nesta’s POV.

As the book ends with the birth of Feyre and Rhysand’s child, Nyx, and the preparation for Nesta and Cassian’s mating ceremony, it appears that Nesta’s main character moment has come to an end, leading to the obvious question: Who’s next?

Vote in our poll below, and be sure to take a look at our top picks for the next ACOTAR lead with why we think that character has been set up to take the spotlight!

Elain

As Feyre and Nesta’s sister, it makes perfect sense that the fandom’s top theory for ACOTAR 6‘s main character is Elain. Known to be the most innocent and gentle-hearted Archeron sister, Elain’s POV would certainly be a departure from her strong-minded sisters’ internal monologues. At the same time, one of the largest unanswered questions in the series is which Fae will be Elain’s mate. Given that Nesta’s book had a clear-cut love story, we’d be thrilled to see Elain’s love life bloom in ACOTAR 6.

Azriel

Speaking of Elain’s love life, many fans have looked towards Elain’s potential love interest, Illryian bat-boy Azriel, as a top contender for the ACOTAR 6 crown. Seeing as Azriel was featured in Maas’ most recent book from her Crescent City series, House of Flame and Shadow, many fans believe that Maas is ready to provide a window into the beloved character’s mind. Could Az helm SJM’s first fully male POV ACOTAR book?

Mor

This one may be a bit of a reach, but one of the characters we would be the most excited to see as the main POV of ACOTAR 6 is Morrigan. Similar to Throne of Glass‘ main storyline departure in Tower of Dawn, some fans believe that the next Prythian-set book will follow Mor’s journey, even though she was not a major part of Feyre and Nesta’s storylines. Plus, fans have also theorized that Mor is the “traitor” that Feyre was warned about in A Court of Silver Flames. If that’s true, we say it’s about time we get an SJM book from a villainous POV!
