Amaya Espinal is opening up about her shocking split with Bryan Arenales.

The Love Island USA contestants, who won Season 7 as an exclusive couple on July 13, told fans that they parted ways in separate Instagram Stories on August 27. The update came only two days after the cast’s reunion episode dropped, during which they confirmed they were still going strong.

Amaya didn’t divulge much when she notified her “papayas” about her breakup, but she’s since given them more clarity through TikTok comments. Underneath a video made by a fan, who claimed she saw Bryan being “toooo friendly” with another woman at a Miami club, Amaya said that Bryan was the one to end their relationship.

“Imagine being broken up with just to come on TikTok a couple hours later already in distraught to see that he’s in Miami two hours later doing the exact things you told him hurts your feelings,” she wrote on the same day they made their split public.

The Season 7 winners had addressed Bryan’s rumored cheating during the reunion, which was filmed on August 12. Arenales admitted to having a “lapse in judgment” when he poured shots into club patrons’ mouths at an event he had been hosting.

The couple said they had talked about what happened and moved past it. “I’m also not a woman that would be with someone who doesn’t respect me,” Amaya said. “So if I’m with him and still with him, it’s clearly because the relationship dynamic is healthy and great.”

In another comment, according to The Mirror, Amaya gave fans more context as to why she’s speaking out about their breakup. “After meeting his mom, after telling I was in love with him, after being intimate… I’m tired of holding my tongue. I’m hurt,” she wrote, adding that “mental health is real & I don’t condone any hate.”

Similarly, she wished Bryan the best in her original statement. “After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys,” she wrote. “Our visions didn’t align and relationships are supposed to be a team sport. You don’t have to drink the whole sea to know it’s salty.”

Though Amaya was the first to break the news, Bryan put out a message of his own shortly after. “Unfortunately, we were not on the same page, and that is OK,” he wrote in an Instagram Story. “We both gained clarity that we are on different paths right now. I am thankful for the time we have spent together, and I wish her nothing but the best moving forward.”
