Richard Gere’s Wife Opens Up About ‘Changes & Challenges’ on His 76th Birthday

Pretty Woman star Richard Gere turned 76 on August 31, and his wife, Alejandra Gere, penned a lengthy message in honor of his birthday. She gave rare insight into their life together with their sons.
The 42-year-old cuddled up to her husband in a new photo she shared. Richard sweetly had his arms wrapped around his wife’s waist. Alejandra addressed the message to her “love” and gushed over how the actor has been the “rock” of their family over the past year.
“This year has brought changes and challenges, but through it all you’ve been the constant our rock,” Alejandra wrote on Instagram. “The boys and I feel your love in every moment: the way you show up for us, the patience you bring, the strength you give, and the heart you pour into this family.”
She continued, “You are everything to us the best husband and the best dad always giving, always helping. Even in the busiest days, you are the center of our little universe, and we are so grateful for you. We love you beyond words, today and always.”

The Runaway Bride actor married Alejandra in 2018. They’ve welcomed sons Alexander and James together. Richard is also a stepdad to Alejandra’s son, Albert.
With their family, Richard and Alejandra moved to Spain, Alejandra’s home country. “The truth is that you are seeing us in our momentum. We are happier than ever,” Richard told Elle España earlier this year. “If she is happy, I am happy.”
Richard’s oldest son, Homer Gere, is following in his father’s footsteps. The young actor, whom Richard shares with ex-wife Carey Lowell, is set to star in the upcoming FX adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ prep school thriller The Shards. Homer will star alongside Kaia Gerber, who happens to be the daughter of Richard’s first wife, Cindy Crawford.
