Julia Quinn knows all when it comes to the Bridgerton universe, including which sibling will lead Season 5. That’s why fans think that the romance author may have just hinted at whose love story is next after Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie’s (Yerin Ha) Season 4.

“Looking back… and looking ahead. Photos from 2019, collage and transcript from @_inmylibrary_ (thank you!) #Bridgerton #philoise #tosirphillipwithlove,” Quinn recently captioned a behind-the-scenes collage of herself talking to Eloise’s actress, Claudia Jessie, about her character’s book storyline.

It also brings another fan debate to mind: Should Eloise’s book endgame carry over to the Netflix series? Quinn seems to think so, if her hashtags are any indication, and now a video has resurfaced of the author straightforwardly addressing who she thinks TV Eloise should be with.

In the fifth installment of the Bridgerton series, Eloise falls for Sir Phillip Crane (Chris Fulton), who has already been introduced on the show. Marina (Ruby Barker) was his brother’s lover (and the mother of his children) before he died. Phillip decides to honor him by marrying Marina and taking care of her and the kids. As it stands, Eloise and Phillip haven’t interacted yet — their romance begins when they start exchanging letters.

In Quinn’s video, which was supposedly posted during Season 4 filming last year, she responded to a fan asking if Eloise should have ended up with Theo (Calam Lynch), an original character created for the show, instead. Eloise and print shop worker Theo meet during during her Season 2 investigation into Lady Whistledown’s identity. They bond and almost kiss, but Eloise puts a stop to it. He didn’t return in Season 3.

“No, of course not,” the author said. “She should be with Sir Phillip.”

Still, Quinn made sure to clarify that Eloise’s endgame isn’t definitive. “Contrary to rumors — and I’ve seen these rumors — I do not have anything in my contract saying that all of the characters must end up with the person in the book, but yeah, no.”

“I can’t wait…” she continued before trailing off. “I think she should end up with Sir Phillip. I think that would be great.”

Though fans will have to wait to find out what’s Eloise’s season will look like — we’re keeping an eye out for more clues — they at least know where Quinn stands on the matter. Do you agree that the show should be faithful to To Sir Phillip, With Love? Let us know in the comments!
