‘My Life with the Walter Boys’ Star Ashby Gentry Reacts to ‘Summer I Turned Pretty’s Jeremiah Comparisons

It’s impossible not to compare the romantic plights of the two characters, especially since My Life with the Walter Boys dropped its second season at the same time The Summer I Turned Pretty is rolling out its third and final season. Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Alex (Ashby Gentry) are both members of the brother love triangle club.
But according to Gentry, it seems their similarities end there. In a September 1 TikTok video, the actor shades his TSITP counterpart. He stitched a viral video that features a user acting out what would happen if the two characters met. In the 50-second skit, @kelsbyb has Jeremiah and Alex vent to each other about their older brothers trying to take their girlfriends.
“Alex would never have a conversation with Jeremiah that lasted that long,” Gentry deadpans to the camera, adding “I said what I said” in the caption.

Walter Boys and TSITP fans alike were quick to react in the comments section. “So team Alex is team Conrad?” one user wrote, referring to Christopher Briney‘s The Summer I Turned Pretty character. “I just know Alex will hate DEEPLY on Jeremiah,” another added.
Others mentioned that there are some clear differences between Alex and Jeremiah, pointing out that the latter cheated on Belly (Lola Tung). In Walter Boys, on the other hand, Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) is the one to cheat on Alex — with his own brother no less. As a result, some users pointed out that while they do want a Belly and Conrad endgame, they don’t want the same thing for Cole and Jackie.
“I’m a Cole girlie,” a user chimed in, referencing Noah LaLonde‘s Walter Boys character, “but I genuinely love Alex and he’s not bad like Jeremiah lmao Alex solos Jere any day.”
Though plenty of commenters were showing the love for Alex, a few vocal Jeremiah fans to clapped back. “You do realize you’re the Jeremiah of your show… right……..” one commented.
