Which ‘Bridgerton’ Couple Had the Best First Kiss? (POLL)
There’s no doubt about it: Bridgerton knows how to do a first kiss. But is one smooch better than the others?
It’s a question we found ourselves asking as we anxiously wait for the romance show’s fourth season. It’ll be months until we’re able to compare Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie’s (Yerin Ha) kiss to the others, but in the meantime, let’s evaluate their competition. First, they’re up against Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page) from Season 1. It’s been a few years — for those that haven’t rewatched it — so let’s take a trip down memory lane.
Daphne and the Duke first lock lips in Episode 4. Having just been proposed to by Prince Friedrich (Freddie Stroma), she leaves the ball to get some air in the garden outside. Simon follows her, and Daphne confronts Simon about stringing her along.
Hurt after he doesn’t confirm that they were ever friends, she runs away. Simon follows, which leads to a steamy makeout session. That’s when Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) stumbles upon them and challenges Simon to a duel to protect his sister’s honor. It’s certainly one of Season 1’s most memorable moments.
Anthony and his endgame partner, Kate (Simone Ashley), have a slower buildup to their kiss, which takes place in Episode 6. He was on the verge of marrying Kate’s sister, Edwina (Charithra Chandran), before she picked up on Anthony and Kate’s tension and called it off. Finally, with no more obstacles between them, Kate and Anthony kiss in the church.
On the other hand, it only takes two episodes for Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton) to kiss for the first time. In the Featherington garden, Colin finds Penelope to apologize for saying he would never court her. At this point, Penelope feels like she has no chance at marriage, so she asks Colin to give her a kiss her in case she never gets one. Though it comes quick, their kiss is the first time Colin realizes there’s a spark between them.
We can’t forget about George (Corey Mylchreest) and Charlotte (India Amarteifio) from Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. They didn’t share their first kiss until after their wedding, but that smooch in the observatory? Wow.
