Spotted! Swooon Featured in ‘Love Island: Beyond the Villa’ Episode
Swooon got a shoutout during a recent episode of Love Island: Beyond the Villa! As the show referenced JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez’s breakup, one of our articles from earlier this summer flashed across the screen.
The article in question is titled: “JaNa Craig & Kenny Rodriguez Split: A Deep Dive Into the Shocking ‘Love Island USA‘ Breakup,” and it was written back in July when news broke that the Love Island USA Season 6 couple had ended their relationship after less than a year together.
JaNa and Kenny were on Love Island: Beyond the Villa, which gave fans of the show a look inside their relationship months after they left Love Island USA as a couple. Filming for the Peacock series wrapped in June, just weeks before it was revealed that JaNa and Kenny’s relationship was over.
Throughout Season 1 of Love Island: Beyond the Villa, JaNa and Kenny had some highs and lows. The troubles in their relationship mostly seemed to stem from maintaining their love while in a long-distance romance once filming ended. They still had not come to an agreement about whether they should move in together (he lives in Dallas, while she’s in Las Vegas). Although he began considering a move to Las Vegas, he was admittedly not certain that it would be the right decision.
Plus, there was tension between the pair that stemmed from Kenny’s decision to live in a separate apartment from JaNa while they filmed Beyond the Villa in Los Angeles. However, when they left the show, they were in a “very healthy” and “very solid” place, JaNa said.
Obviously, things changed just a few weeks later, and while she hasn’t spoken at-length about the reason for the split, she did release the following statement: “Hi my loves… Thank you for all your love & support. It means the world to me. As you know, Kenny and I are no longer together. Please know that I have seen all the breakup theories and none have matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is. Discovering that someone you loved isn’t who you thought they were and that the relationship you thought you were building hasn’t been genuine since day one has been truly devastating.”
For his part, Kenny said, “The past few days have been incredibly difficult. I’ve been quietly sitting with a lot of emotions and doing my best to process everything privately. Breakups are never easy, especially in the public eye. Sometimes, despite how deeply you care for someone, you come to the hard truth that the relationship was not something that could last long-term. I’ll always be grateful for the time we shared and the memories we created. I release this chapter with no ill will, only a hope that JaNa’s path forward brings her nothing but happiness.”
