‘Wednesday’s Hunter Doohan Addresses Rumors His Husband Is Jealous of Jenna Ortega

Wednesday‘s Hunter Doohan is setting the record straight about his husband’s feelings toward Jenna Ortega.
Even though they went from love interests to enemies in their Netflix series, that hasn’t stopped fans from picking up on the chemistry between Ortega’s Wednesday Addams and Doohan’s Tyler Gilpin. It’s so blatant, it seems, that people have speculated that the costars’ off-screen relationship has caused marital issues for Doohan.
Doohan, who tied the knot with Fielder Jewett in 2022, shuts down the rumors in an upcoming episode of the I’ve Never Said This Before podcast. In a clip acquired by Us Weekly, the 31-year-old actor explains that some thought he was absent from Wednesday‘s London premiere because his husband was jealous of Ortega.
The real cause, it turns out, is that Doohan was shooting a movie in New Zealand at the time. “I even posted it where I was like, ‘Oh, I wish I could be there,’” Doohan told DiDario. “And there’s rumors — I saw one where Jenna didn’t allow me to go, which is so not true. There was a rumor that my husband didn’t let me go because he is jealous of Jenna. I was like, ‘You guys. Can we be so f**king for real right now?'”
He left nothing up for interpretation, continuing, “My husband — for the record — did not tell me not to go to the Wednesday premiere because he’s jealous of Jenna. Grow up.”
Doohan says that his interactions with Wednesday fans have been “so great” in person and “mostly positive” online so far, and he doesn’t think they’re responsible for those “ridiculous” rumors. “It’s not the fans of the show — there’s honestly been these weird videos on TikTok that have spread rumors about me and Jenna and Emma [Myers] and other cast members’ personal lives are just so not true,” he explained.
As a result, the actor admitted that he’s “been struggling with how much” he tells the public about his personal life. “This stuff gets spread around and people believe it,” he said. “Sometimes it makes me want to protect myself more and not share anything from my personal life, and sometimes I want to comment on [it],” he added. “Surely people aren’t believing this s**t?”
During the episode, Doohan made sure to confirm that he and Ortega still have a close off-screen friendship. “I love her to death. It’s so stupid. It’s something like — why even say it [when it is] so ridiculous? Because I think most people see through it.”
