You’ve mentioned in interviews that this pregnancy has been a long time coming. How did it feel to finally get that positive result?
Lauren: Man, it was an out-of-body experience. It’s like, if you ever wanted something so bad, it’s actually a little scary to see how it turns out. But once we’d flipped and we saw that it was a positive test, I think we were both just overwhelmed with emotions. Fell to our knees, hugged each other. I was kind of numb for a minute. Yeah, it was beautiful because we waited so long for that moment.
Cameron: It’s kind of, yeah, scary too because… It’s like, what’s next now, right? We waited for so long, and it was all about getting to that point, and then once you’re there, it’s like, “Oh, man, what’s gonna happen next?”

One of the major milestones during your pregnancy was your adorable gender reveal on Instagram in August. How did you decide that you wanted to know the gender of your baby before he was born?
Lauren: Yeah, I mean, [since we did IVF] they give you the option to know ahead of time. So, I just couldn’t take it, and I was like, ‘Tell me!” So the gender reveal was more for the supporters, and some of our family didn’t know yet, but it’s still exciting for us, because, like, “Oh my god, we’re having a boy!” I always wanted a boy. Cam wanted a little girl because he wanted a little daddy’s girl.
Cameron: Well, I wanted both. Maybe we’ll see in the future. But yeah, I saw how Lauren is with her dad. She just loves him so much, so I selfishly wanted that as well. But I’m so excited for our son! I can’t really narrow it down to a specific thing I’m excited about, but I’m just over the moon.
Cameron, how have you been supporting Lauren during her third trimester?
Cameron: That’s a great question. Lauren’s in nesting mode right now. She has been, maybe one or two months, and it’s a lot. I wake up every morning, and she’s got a new project for me. She’s carrying the baby, so, it’s only [fair]. We’ve been doing a ton of home renovations, the nursery. I’m like, “Will this ever stop?” And I don’t know, I really don’t know if it will, but it’s a good thing. It’s a good problem to have.
Lauren: Well, because the driveway has to be power-washed before the baby gets here! He [has to] paint the entryways because the baby’s gonna notice. Nesting is the oddest thing because you just look around the house, and you’re like, what needs to be done before the baby comes? I don’t know. Just something chemically. Probably that happens with women. It’s like a baby bird on a nest. You’re trying to build the nicest nest.
Cameron: I woke up to a text of an armoire today that she said the baby needed. I’m like, I don’t think he needs a full armoire for his clothes.
I would agree. I think the baby needs an armoire.
Cameron: I knew you were gonna say that!
Lauren: See! Thank you, thank you.

What’s something you’ve learned about each other during this pregnancy journey?
Lauren: I’ve learned that Cam is very patient with me, as he should be, because I’m carrying his child. But no, he’s so patient. He’s very supportive, and he just wants to make sure I’m healthy and happy, and he’s just the best partner. A girl couldn’t ask for a better father of my child and husband. I’m really lucky to have him, and I tried to tell him that as much as possible because I know I’m getting on his nerves, hardcore. I just want to be sure that he knows that I appreciate him.
How have you kept up the romance in your relationship during your pregnancy?
Lauren: Trying to keep the dates alive because there’s gonna come a time, once the baby’s born, and we probably won’t be able to do a lot of dates at first. Maybe at the house. But I’ve even told Cam, look, we really have to savor these date nights. Whether we’re going out to get food together, going to the movies, or whatever it is, we have to really enjoy these because it may not be as easy once the baby comes to just slip away and have it be just the two of us.
Cameron: I mean, it’s a thing that we’re thinking about now, too. Like Lauren said, when he’s actually here, how are we going to make that happen? Obviously, we [could go on] date nights at home. But we do have our folks. We’ll have to lean on our support system at some point.
What do you love about this partnership with Pampers?
Cameron Hamilton: Well, first of all, I’m a Pampers baby, so I’m excited to keep that tradition going with our son! I mean, we have been kind of overwhelmed with all the decisions we have to make as new parents. He’s not even here yet, and we’re like, how are we going to set up the nursery? Are we going to do feeding schedules? At least we know we want to use Pampers. There’s peace of mind in that. And they’re really “behind every baby.” I mean, they’re used in hospitals on the newborns. They’re just a brand that we know that we can trust, so we feel some peace of mind there.
Lauren Speed-Hamilton: I mean, Pampers has literally been around forever, you know, 60-plus years. Like Cam said, he wore them. They’re a legacy brand, so it’s an honor to partner with them. We know that they work. They work for sure, so much, that the hospitals use them, like he says. Our son will have them on Day 1 at the hospital, so it’s an honor. We’re excited to partner with them, and they have an awesome sweepstakes going on as well!
We’re excited to help other new parents. They’re giving away a year’s supply of diapers, which, in this economy— girl, if it’s free, okay, you better take it! — so they have all the details over on their page and site, but we’re just excited to help families!
Speaking of diapers, who do you think is going to be better at diaper duty?
Lauren: [Laughs] I’m gonna say me.
Cameron: I mean, I assumed you would say you.
Lauren: Although Cam takes it very seriously. We had our birthing class, and he’s very meticulous.
Cameron: Maybe we’ll have, like, a diaper changing contest. Keep it interesting.
Lauren: How many can you change? How many can Cam change in two days on his own? See how that goes.
