5 ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Series Finale Predictions: Bonrad’s Fate, Health Scare & More
Jenny Han, we’re begging for a happy ending in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3. We know the book delivers one, but there’s seriously no telling what’s going to happen when the show’s final episode drops next week.
While we anxiously wait for Episode 11 to arrive, Swooon came up with five theories (some of them double as manifestations) for the series’ conclusion.
“I always knew how I wanted to end the books,” Han told Elite Daily. “But with the show, I went into it with an open mind. I wanted to approach it with fresh eyes and just see what sort of magic happened on screen. I am somebody who is always changing things up.” (That doesn’t scare us in the slightest!)
So, will Belly (Lola Tung) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) end up together? Could something be wrong with Belly’s dad? These are our final episode predictions.
Belly & Benito will call it quits early on
Sorry, Benito (Fernando Cattori). We actually liked you for the brief time you’ve been here, but we fear this is another Cam Cameron (David Iacono) situation. We seriously doubt Han’s going to have Conrad arrive in Paris, only for Belly and Benito to be seeing each other.
Conrad’s dealt with too much angst already! It would just be cruel at this point to have him watch Belly be with someone else again. At the very least, Benito might not be in Paris at the same time Conrad is. In Episode 10, he invites Belly to join him on a trip to Mexico to visit his family. Maybe more time has passed than we think by the end of Episode 10, and that’s where Benito will be. After Conrad visits, Belly will likely pay Benito a call and end things for good.
Belly & Conrad will have fun in Paris, but they don’t get back together officially yet
Speaking of Conrad’s visit, we bet it’s going to be ridiculously cute and magical. (You deserve it, Conrad!) Belly will show Conrad what her life is like in Paris, and they’ll do some fun touristy activities.
Obviously, they’ll have chemistry, and it’ll lead to some close calls… but they won’t cross that line just yet. Maybe there will be a kiss, but Belly won’t confess her love to Conrad.
Belly’s dad will have a health scare
Yep, contrary to popular opinion, we don’t think Conrad’s going to be the one with health problems. After checking out TikTok, we realized that we aren’t the only ones that noticed John’s (Colin Ferguson) complaints about heartburn during Thanksgiving dinner. We don’t think he’s going to die — two parent deaths would be a little too brutal for this show — but he will be hospitalized with a heart attack.
Bonus prediction: After that, Laurel (Jackie Chung) will get back with John for good, and they’ll maybe even remarry each other.
Belly will return home with Conrad
Will John’s heart attack happen while she’s with Conrad? It definitely would add to the drama, destroying Belly and Conrad’s reunion bliss. Plus, we have no idea how the show is going to cram everything it needs to into an hour-long episode, though it might wind up being longer.
Her dad’s scare is going to be what prompts her to move back to the States. She’ll fly back with Conrad immediately and stay by John’s side until he goes home. Belly will probably head back to Paris to wrap things up, but she’ll realize that “life is too short not to spend it with the person [she] loves.”
Once she returns to the States, she’ll finish college and graduate, keeping in touch with Conrad all the while.
There will only be 10 minutes of happy Bonrad, including a flash forward to their wedding
Not to be pessimistic, but we don’t think we’ll get to see too much of Belly and Conrad being a happy, official couple. After she graduates, we bet the show will end with a wedding flash forward, just like Han’s book does. Belly and Conrad will say “I do” surrounded by their loved ones. Denise (Isabella Briggs) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) are there as each other’s dates. Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) does the voice over. Roll credits.
