Nate Bargatze will take the stage to host the 77th Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 14. Supporting him at the show will be his wife, Laura Bargatze, who has been by his side since long before his career as a comedian took off.

The Bargatzes tied the knot in 2006 and have gone on to build a beautiful life together. Scroll down to learn more about Laura, the pair’s relationship, their family, and more.

How did Nate Bargatze meet his wife?

The two met in the early 2000s while they were both working at an Applebee’s restaurant in Tennessee. In one of his stand-up specials, Nate revealed Laura’s reaction when they first met: “When I met him, he was a host, and I didn’t think he was smart enough to be a server. So, yeah, we’ve gotten a little bit farther than I expected,” he said.

Nate proposed during a carriage ride in New York City in 2005, and the two tied the knot on October 13, 2006.

What does Nate Bargatze’s wife do?

Today, Laura helps manage her husband’s career. Since 2019, she’s been the executive producer of his podcast, The Nateland Podcast, and also works as a talent manager for his company.

“Think of Laura as the CEO of ‘Nate, Inc.,'” a post on the Nate Bargatze Comedy Facebook page says. “She organizes the chaos, filters the nonsense, and sometimes probably tells him, ‘No, you can’t wear Crocs to the Emmys.’ Without her, Nate might still be Googling how microphones work.”

Prior to taking on this role, Laura graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2005, according to LinkedIn. She began her career as a marketing assistant before becoming a marketing coordinator at Thomson Reuters from 2008 to 2009. She then worked as a business development events specialist at Kurtzman Carson Consultants LLC from 2010 to 2019.

She once shared on Nate’s podcast, “I saw an ad in a paper and it was for an event planner, and I was like, ‘That’s what I want to do.’ I was golden because it was a travel job and it was … late nights. I didn’t ever have to wait on [Nate] to get home because I had my own thing going on.”

Yes, they are proud parents to a daughter named Harper, who was born in 2012. Harper has been completely supportive of her dad’s career, even announcing him to the stage in many of his stand-up specials.

Where do Nate and Laura Bargatze live?

The couple lives in Tennessee. “Life is still pretty normal,” he told People. “We live in a very normal neighborhood and not really around show business, so it’s as normal as it can be.” Their home is in the Nashville area.

Prior to moving to Tennessee, Nate and Laura lived in New York as he launched his comedy career. “It kind of starts to wear on you a little bit,” Laura admitted on the podcast. “We were broke at that point, and New York’s not that fun if you don’t have some spending cash.” They moved to Los Angeles in 2012, then relocated to Nashville two years later.
