Marisa Abela’s Husband: Get to Know the ‘Industry’ Star’s Love Jamie Bogyo

We have yet to see Yasmin actually tie the knot on Industry — Season 4 still doesn’t have a release date — but wedding bells have already rung for the actress who plays her. Marisa Abela has officially tied the knot with Jamie Bogyo.
Over the weekend, the cast of the HBO drama reunited to celebrate Abela’s nuptials. Myha’la, Harry Lawtey, Nicholas Bishop, Conor MacNeill, Kit Harington — her onscreen fiancé — and more of Industry’s finest were in attendance on September 13. The couple chose a 15th-century manor in Brighton, England, where Abela was born and raised, as their venue.
So, who did she meet at the end of the aisle? Read on for everything we know about Abela’s off-screen romance with Bogyo.
Who Is Jamie Bogyo?
Abela and her partner work in the same industry. After attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and Yale University, the actor made his stage debut in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. He crooned “El Tango de Roxanne” every night as Christian on the West End, where he originated the role.
You also might recognize Bogyo from the upcoming movie The Testament of Ann Lee, in which he appears alongside Amanda Seyfried. This spring, he returned to the West End to appear in the musical version of The Devil Wears Prada. Bogyo’s next project is the play Safe Space, which is his debut as a writer. It premieres in October 2025.
How long have Marisa Abela and Jamie Bogyo been together?
The Back to Black actress and Bogyo got together in 2020, and they’d only been together for two months when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. They holed up in Abela’s hometown to spend lockdown together.
“It was a real jump in the deep end to have Jamie move in with me, my mum, and my brother instead of flying back to New York,” Abela told Vogue. “Miraculously, it worked!”
They went on to date for four years before Bogyo popped the question. He shared the news of their engagement via Instagram last year. One photo consisted of a smiling Abela holding a rose and showing off her bling. The following video features Abela in her fiancé’s arms, planting a sweet kiss on his lips.

“She said she’ll think about it!” he captioned the post. Abela posted a few photos from their impromptu engagement party, which Boygo arranged at one of their favorite London restaurants, about a month later.
“It was the best day of my life,” she told Vogue. “The next day we already had a holiday planned in Greece, so we sort of had an ‘engagement moon’—we highly recommend it!”
At their wedding, Abela wore a custom dress from Emilia Wickstead that was inspired by Audrey Hepburn. “We wrote our own vows,” the actress revealed. “We actually did a legal ceremony at Islington Town Hall the week before, which was incredibly special and intimate, with just our parents in attendance and a lunch at one of our favorite local spots afterward. This meant that our ceremony at Firle could be totally unique to us, a real celebration of who we are as people and what we mean to one another. It was the greatest moment of our lives.”
How did Marisa Abela and Jamie Boygo meet?
They were classmates first! They met at the Royal Academy in 2016. “We were best friends throughout the course, and Jamie finally asked me out when we were graduating in 2019,” she told Vogue. “We’ve been together ever since.”
More specifically, the newlyweds met at a school meet-and-greet on Primrose Hill, which is where Boygo proposed. “It was amazing to be back where Jamie had literally walked into my life for the very first time,” the actress recalled.
What has Marisa Abela said about her relationship?
Abela opened up about her romance with Bogyo while promoting Back to Black. She recalled the first day of filming when photos of Abela as Amy Winehouse went viral on the internet. When she got home after filming, Bogyo had lit candles and fixed her a bath.
“He gave me a hug on the bed, and I literally fell asleep in that hug and woke up in the morning in the exact same position,” she told Elle. “That was honestly the moment that I thought, ‘I can’t wait to marry him.'”
She added, “He’s the most supportive, generous, kind, funny and amazing person. He’s the best, I’m so lucky.”
The couple isn’t shy about posting each other on their social media pages, but they’ve kept their relationship under wraps for the most part. Boygo did post a romantic tribute for Abela’s birthday in 2023.
