Who Is Pentatonix Star Scott Hoying’s Husband? All About Their Sweet Love Story

For the first time in a cappella history, a Pentatonix vocalist is hitting the ballroom floor. As one of the founding members of Pentatonix, baritone Scott Hoying is a three-time Grammy Award-winning artist. Now, he’s one of the 14 celebs vying for the Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy on Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars. With fan-favorite pro Rylee Arnold by his side and a legion of PTX fans behind them, viewers are eagerly awaiting Scott’s dance floor debut.

Who is Mark Hoying?

Mark Hoying (née Manio) is a songwriter, band manager, children’s book author, and former marketing professional from Seattle, Washington. Since they met back in 2017, Mark and Scott have cowritten multiple albums together, including the children’s album M.Y. F.A.M.I.L.Y. and the single for Pentatonix’s Christmas album We Need a Little Christmas.

After their wedding, Scott told People, “What I love about Mark is that he is the most loving, gentle, genuinely kind ray of sunshine that you’ll ever meet—always! It’s like a superpower. He just loves life, loves people, loves every single part of me. I just know he is going to be the most amazing father in the world to our children.”

When did Scott and Mark get married?

Scott and Mark Hoying got married in July 2023 after six years together. The wedding, which took place on the beach in Santa Barbara, California, was officiated by their close friend, “A Thousand Years” singer Christina Perri. According to People, Scott had proposed to Mark in the Bahamas a little over a year prior. The couple shared, “We really wanted it to be grandiose and like nothing else we’ve ever experienced, just like our love for each other.”

At the wedding, Scott serenaded Mark with his song “Four.” He gushed, “The song is one of my favorite songs I have ever written, as it is a love letter I dedicated to Mark after we had dated for four years, and I can barely sing it without crying.” The couple also received a performance of “Never Be Enough” from The Greatest Showman from Loren Allred.

How did Scott and Mark meet?

Scott and Mark met in 2017 at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Los Angeles, California. Scott locked eyes with Mark almost immediately. He recalled, “We talked the whole night and really [hit] it off. We started hanging every single day, and I remember being blown away at how warm, wholesome, and sweet Mark was. It was such a refreshing energy that I couldn’t get enough of.”

What has Mark said about Scott going on Dancing with the Stars?

Following the Dancing with the Stars Season 34 cast announcement, Mark posted a video with Scott to celebrate. In the caption, Mark praised his husband, cheering, “MY HUSBAND IS ON THE NEW SEASON OF DANCING WITH THE STARS @scotthoying 🕺🏼😭🪩✨ It makes me the happiest guy in the world to see one of your big dreams come true, and I can’t wait for the world to see the incredible DANCER that you are 🥹 I’m so proud of you and I’m beyond excited to watch you and QUEEN @ryleearnold CRUSH IT on the ballroom floor! 💛” The author then posted a mirror selfie in the rehearsal studio with Scott and Rylee with the caption, “So much to celebrate!!!! 🥹🥰🪩📚🍎”
