Brett Goldstein Wrote ‘Office Romance’ Movie for Jennifer Lopez: ‘She’s the Best’ (VIDEO)
Jennifer Lopez is returning to the rom-com world, and fans have Brett Goldstein to thank for it.
The Ted Lasso star is making his rom-com debut in Office Romance, an upcoming Netflix movie that he also cowrote. Goldstein’s leading lady is none other than Lopez, who’s certified rom-com royalty with movies like The Wedding Planner and Maid in Manhattan under her belt. Goldstein, it appears, would agree that Lopez has earned the title.
At the September 17 premiere of his rom-dram All of You, Goldstein gave Swooon an idea of what to expect from his collaboration with Lopez. She stars as Jackie, a CEO that has a strict anti-fraternization policy for her employees. Jackie struggles to follow her own rules when a hot lawyer (Goldstein) starts working for her.

It turns out that Goldstein envisioned Lopez in the lead role from the movie’s inception. “She’s f**king brilliant is all I can tell you at this point,” the actor gushed. “We wrote it for her, me and Joe Kelly.”
He added, “We wrote it because she’s the best rom-com actor, and day one, I was like, ‘We made the right decision,'” he continued, reiterating, “She’s f**king brilliant.”
Goldstein’s comments echo what he told Netflix in April, when the movie was in production. “Every day I come to work to do a rom-com with Jennifer Lopez and this incredible cast, and I expect people to jump out and tell me I’m being pranked,” he said. G.L.O.W.‘s Betty Gilpin and Selena‘s Edward James Olmos are also part of the cast, with Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again‘s Ol Parker directing.
