Why Did Isaiah Campbell & Sydney Paight Split After ‘Love Island USA’? The Juicy Details

Love Island Games contestants bring plenty of baggage with them. Sometimes, the show will even bring an ex back as a bombshell to make the drama even messier.
It’s still early days, so it hasn’t happened yet. However, we have started looking into all of the Season 2 contestants‘ relationship histories, and we’re turning our attention to Isaiah Campbell. Before he was coupled up with Love Island Malta alum Nicola Gauci Borda-Warr, Isaiah was with Love Island USA Season 4’s Sydney Paight. After landing in second place, they left the show together.
In case you haven’t watched Season 4 yet — or it’s been a while since you binged it — you might be wondering why exactly Isaiah and Sydney called it quits. Keep reading for everything we know about their split below.
Why did Isaiah and Sydney break up after Love Island USA Season 4?
The couple dated for over a year after the show ended in summer 2022. They maintained a long distance relationship, with Sydney in Los Angeles and Isaiah in Florida. However, distance wasn’t the cause of their breakup. In December 2023, Sydney shared that she was single on Instagram.
That same month, Isaiah appeared on the Forever Unemployed podcast to tell his side of the story. Celebrating a friend’s birthday on the Jersey Shore, Isaiah claimed that he met some fans at a bar, who started handing him drinks. He recalled blacking out, and the only thing he remembered from the night was getting into an Uber.
The following morning, Isaiah said he missed a few calls from Sydney before she sent him a video (which was shown during the podcast). In it, he appears to kiss another woman. “‘We’re done, you’re a liar,'” Isaiah said when asked what happened next. “Not really much else was to it. I was just trying to figure out what was going on in the first place.”
He continued, “All I’m trying to do is console her feelings and try to understand where she’s coming from, and I was crying. I was crying all day.”
He said he tried to fight to win her back the rest of the day. Ultimately, he said, Sydney asked him to talk face-to-face, but Isaiah couldn’t afford the flight. They couldn’t find their way back to each other after that.
“If you guys are going to pick sides, please just pick hers,” he said on the podcast. “If she did to me what I did to her, I can’t say I’d do anything different.”
During a more recent appearance on the Unattainable podcast, Sydney reflected on their relationship and breakup. “There was real love there,” she said. “I honestly consider that the first relationship I ever had where I experienced love, especially on an adult level. I didn’t know what else to do. I cut it off. I did what I thought was right in the moment. I hope he’s doing well. There’s no hate there.”
