Who is Whitney Wolfe Herd’s husband?
Whitney is married to Michael Herd. They met while on Christmas ski trips with their families in Aspen in December 2013. A mutual friend introduced them. Just like the dating app she created, Whitney made the first move.
When she spotted Michael having lunch instead of skiing, Whitney went up to him and started “giving him a hard time about wasting such amazing conditions,” she told Vogue. “Michael admitted he didn’t know how to ski, and being from Utah and having grown up skiing, I was perplexed as to why someone who couldn’t ski would be on a ski vacation.” She decided to teach him how to ski and show off her skills in the process.
After this meet-cute, Whitney and Michael started officially dating on Valentine’s Day 2014. He proposed in 2016, and they married in Italy in 2017.
In a 2024 interview with C Magazine, Whitney said she and her husband have a “beautiful balance” in their relationship. “We’re so yin and yang,” she admitted. “I’ve been living behind a computer screen for 10 years.” Michael responded, “And my life has been so offline.”
What does Michael Herd do for a living?
Michael is the president of Herd Producing Company, an oil and gas firm based out of Texas. The company was founded by his late grandfather, Bob L. Herd. He’s also a restaurateur and owns The Grove in his hometown of Tyler, Texas.
Growing up, Michael worked with an old cowboy named Hollis to expand his grandparents’ property. Hollis taught him how to “rope and ride” horses, and Michael competed in rodeos during his college years. He still competes today.

Whitney and Michael have two children. Their first child, son Bobby Lee “Bo” Herd II, was born in 2019. They welcomed a second son, Henry, in 2022.
