People was first to report the split news, with a source noting, “It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.”
Since then, various insiders have come forward with different claims about what went wrong.
“There was one reason: She wanted a family and wanted to get married, and he didn’t,” one source told People, while another insisted they “both” wanted marriage and kids and that the split wasn’t “one-sided.”
Due to the abrupt nature of the split, some fans wondered if someone in the relationship had cheated. These rumors were fueled by a TikTok Dobrev posted on September 5, just days before the breakup news went public. The video featured audio that said, “How do you sleep at night knowing people don’t like you?” Dobrev mouthed the responding audio, which said, “With no underwear on in case they want to kiss my ass.”

She also lip-synced to audio that responded to a question asking for advice for women who want to fix their man. “Listen, Bob the Builder, he’s got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you look like a damn construction crew,” the corresponding audio said.
However, an insider told Us Weekly, “There was no cheating at all during the course of their five-and-a-half-year relationship.”

The former couple was together for six years. They got together in 2019 after they were both speakers at a Tony Robbins event. White proposed in October 2024, and the pair’s last public outing was on August 31, just days before the breakup.
