Love Island Games has brought back a number of memorable franchise alums for Season 2, but there is one contestant many viewers are getting to know for the first time: Nicola Gauci Borda-Warr.
The competitor appeared on the first season of Love Island Malta. Nicola herself described how small the country is in her Games introduction, after pointing out where it is on a map. “Underneath Sicily, there’s Malta,” she said. “The population is like 500,000 people, and I’m one of those people.”

There may be a connection blossoming between Nicola and Chris Seeley (USA Season 7), even though the latter seems fairly committed to Kay Kay Gray (USA Season 5) as of Episode 6. Who is Nicola’s Love Island Malta ex?
Nicola wound up in fourth place in Love Island Malta alongside Dale Mallia. Lovin Malta reported that they had a “bumpy start” during the show, but they stayed together for about a year after filming. They pretended to break up in September 2023 (shortly after Season 1 aired), but they actually made their relationship official the same day.
“We’re happy, we’re official now, and I just wanted to prove a point because I never spoke about hate speech, but I knew that if I had to post something like that, people would rant, and it’s just a bit of a lesson, you know,” the Islander explained, according to Malta Daily.
In February 2024, the couple reportedly moved in together, sharing the news on Instagram Stories. That October, Nicola and Dale removed each other from their Instagram feeds, FreeHour Malta said. They also claimed that they had broken up. It’s unclear why the former couple parted ways.
