Hoda Kotb Gives Update on Coparenting Daughters With Ex Joel Schiffman
It’s been more than three years since Hoda Kotb and Joel Schiffman ended their engagement, and she gave a rare update on where their relationship stands now in a new interview.
While speaking with Good Housekeeping, the former Today host opened up about how she and Schiffman are handling coparenting their daughters, Haley and Hope (they adopted the girls in 2017 and 2019, respectively).
“It’s good,” Kotb confirmed. “Joel is great. He works part-time in New York and part-time in Colorado, so he’s back and forth. But when he’s here, he walks the girls to school, and he comes over for dinner. So we have a great situation.”
Kotb and Schiffman remained on amicable terms after their split. The two started dating in 2013, got engaged in 2019, and broke up in January 2022. However, they maintained a friendship after their split, to the point where some fans even thought they were getting back together earlier this year.
As it turns out, they’re now nothing more than coparents, but they appear to be navigating that situation smoothly.
Kotb left the Today show in January and has since moved to the suburbs with her daughters. Of their new life away from the Big Apple, she gushed, “There’s something about my kids walking to school every day. I mean, they take their umbrellas or their boots if needed, and we walk. We walk in a train, which I love, then we pick up kids from this house, then kids from this house, and we are all walking together to school. And I like the feeling of someone ringing the doorbell, and it might not be a delivery, it might be a kid coming to play.”
Since putting her journalism career behind her, Kotb has released a book and launched her new wellness brand, Joy101. The brand features an app, as well as special events throughout the year hosted by Kotb herself.
