‘The Voice’: A Contestant Proposes to His Girlfriend After Season 28 Blind Audition

The Tuesday, September 23, episode of The Voice featured a sweet moment between one contestant and his girlfriend. Jacob Ryan Gustafson proposed to Jennifer Brown after his Blind Audition in front of the coaches.
Before taking the stage to sing “Spin You Around” by Morgan Wallen, Jacob revealed that he’s a firefighter and said that Jenn’s “belief” in him is what pushed him to audition for the show.
None of the coaches (Reba McEntire, Niall Horan, Michael Bublé, and Snoop Dogg) turned around for Jacob’s Blind Audition. He thanked them for the opportunity and asked if he could bring Jenn on stage. “She is the reason why I’m here,” Jacob confirmed.
“This life is a beautiful life, and I’m so blessed right now,” he said, turning to his girlfriend. “And even right now, if I could change anything, the only thing I’d change is your last name.” He then got down on one knee, asking Jenn to marry him, and she said yes.

“Jacob showed you that there are no losers on The Voice,” Bublé pointed out. “What a beautiful moment. Yeah, nobody turned, but the person he wanted most said yes.”
During his short stint on the show, Jacob opened up about his and Jenn’s “modern-day Brady Bunch family,” noting that he has three children and so does she. “I love his career path that he’s gone down [as a firefighter], but the unknown if he’s going to come home at night is the hardest thing,” Jenn said. “Just being able to have something that his kids can look up to and be proud of, but not that he has to put his life on the line every single day, would probably be the most amazing part for us.”
Despite not turning a chair on The Voice, Jacob is still pursuing music, per his Instagram. In fact, he recently released the song “If I Could Change Anything,” which was inspired by Jenn.
