Who Is ‘The Voice’s Niall Horan Dating? Inside His Relationship & Past Romances
Niall Horan is back as a coach on Season 28 of The Voice. The singer took three seasons off, but he’s back and looking to nab his third win this time around. So much has happened since his last time on the show in Season 24, but one thing that’s stayed the same is Horan’s relationship status.
Horan has been dating his girlfriend, Amelia Woolley, for quite some time, long before he was tapped to coach the NBC singing competition. The One Direction alum and his love are still going strong today. Scroll down for everything we know about the pair’s relationship and his past love life.
Who is Amelia Woolley?
Woolley, who lives in the U.K., works in international marketing for Forest Road Brewing Company, according to her LinkedIn. She’s held the remote position since August 2024. Prior to that, she was employed by Anheuser-Busch InBev for about four years, holding a number of positions at the company.
Woolley has also worked for LVMH, The Maiyet Collective, and Christian Dior. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Business from Instituto Marangoni in 2020.
How did Niall Horan and Amelia Woolley meet?
Horan and Woolley started dating in 2020. “They met in London as Amelia works for shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood [at LMVH] and moved to Kensington for her job,” a source told Daily Mail at the time. The two reportedly first met through mutual friends.
It wasn’t until September 2021 that the couple made their public debut. They attended the One Direction singer’s Horan & Rose Gala, and Woolley even shared a photo of them at the event on Instagram afterwards.
While the two have since attended some public events together, they mostly keep their relationship private. “If everyone knew everything, [my songwriting] wouldn’t be as candid, would it?” Horan explained to Bustle in 2023 while promoting his album The Show. “There’d be all these theories, and I’m not in town for that. I’m here to write what’s on my brain, and love happens to be one of those things that’s flying around me.”
Who else has Niall Horan dated?
When Horan was a contestant on The X Factor UK in 2010, he was in a relationship with Holly Scally, but it did not last long once he got on the show. He was then rumored to be dating Amy Green in 2012, although they never confirmed the romance.
In 2013, Horan brought model Zoe Whelan as his date to his brother’s wedding, but their relationship was short-lived. Later that year, he was photographed holding hands with Barbara Palvin, but her rep claimed they were “just friends.”
Ellie Goulding confirmed that she “went on a few dates” with Horan and told Seventeen they were “still friends” in 2016. In late 2015, he was romantically linked to Selena Gomez after they were reportedly caught kissing at Jenna Dewan‘s birthday party, but the two have never actually confirmed what their status was at the time. Horan then dated Hailee Steinfeld for about a year in 2018.
Did Ed Sheeran write a song about Niall Horan’s love triangle?
When Ed Sheeran released the song “Don’t” in 2014, fans speculated that it was about Goulding cheating on him with Horan. However, he has never confirmed that Horan and Goulding inspired the song.
Sheeran and Goulding were first linked after they were seen holding hands at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2013. When asked about the dating rumors afterwards, Sheeran said, “I mean, normal people don’t hold hands if they’re just friends. It was going on. And now it’s not.”
He addressed the speculation about what inspired “Don’t” in a 2015 interview with Entertainment Weekly. “What happened was one of the newspapers in England just printed that it was confirmed [who it was about] when it never was. We got in touch, and they took the story down,” he explained. “But obviously the damage had already been done by that point because every other newspaper picked up on it. So I never actually confirmed it.”
Meanwhile, Goulding said she and Sheeran were never an item. “I did go on a few dates with Niall, but I was never in a relationship with Ed,” she told Elle UK in 2015. “I have absolutely no idea where that [rumor] came from and why it was turned into such a big thing.”
When she spoke to Seventeen the following year, she reiterated, “[Ed and I have] known each other for a few years. I think he’s a really nice guy and a brilliant musician. We’ve bumped into each other and we’ve hung out and stuff, but the thing is if I hang out with someone, it’s instantly like I’m dating them. We were never in a relationship.”
