People We Meet on Vacation‘s first teaser trailer has arrived, but beyond introducing Emily Henry fans to the onscreen adaptations of Poppy Wright (Emily Bader) and Alex Nilsen (Tom Blyth), the first look also teased the arrival of another character from the author’s literary world with a single Easter egg.

Fans of Henry’s books know that she’s no stranger to sneaking in a fun nod to her characters in little ways, and it appears that one of those Easter eggs from People We Meet on Vacation, referencing Beach Read, made the page-to-screen adaptation. In the novel, Poppy and Alex travel together on various trips, and during one of those vacations, Alex was reading a book written by Augustus Everett, one of the two authors at the center of Henry’s Beach Read.

Some eagle-eyed fans managed to spot that in the teaser trailer released by Netflix, Alex appears to be reading an Augustus Everett novel. The moment also refers to the Beach Read book title, as Poppy and Alex sit on a beach and recreate People We Meet on Vacation‘s original book cover.

As fans may already know, Henry’s 2020 novel, Beach Read, is also being adapted into a movie written for the screen by Yulin Kuang. No casting has been announced, but fancasts have imagined Paul Mescal in the role of Gus Everett and Ayo Edebiri in the role of January Andrews, among other stars.

Only time will tell whether People We Meet on Vacation will include other references to Henry’s characters, but this small nod is certainly one to get excited over. See some of the fan reactions below.

Stay tuned for the upcoming arrival of People We Meet on Vacation, which finally arrives at the beginning of 2026.
