Maggie Baugh has found herself in the spotlight amid her time on Keith Urban‘s High and Alive world tour. Just days before Nicole Kidman filed for divorce from Urban, Baugh uploaded a video to Instagram that caused quite a reaction from fans.
The video featured Baugh playing guitar while Urban performed his 2016 song “The Fighter,” which was inspired by Kidman. At one point, he looked directly at Baugh and changed the lyrics from, “When they’re trying to get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter,” to, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”
Baugh captioned the clip, “Did he just say that👀.” After news of Urban and Kidman’s split broke, the comments section was filled with fans commenting on the situation. “It is so trashy to do this to a song inspired by his wife. It’s the ultimate ick,” one person wrote. Another person said, “Wow, that song was made for Nicole. For him to do that that tells us what he’s really all about. That’s just disgusting,” and someone else wrote, “What a guy he took a song he wrote for his wife and put a different woman’s name in it now there’s class.”
