Are ‘The Amazing Race’s Taylor Hale & Kyland Young Still Together?
Big Brother fans were shocked when the Season 38 cast of The Amazing Race was announced, and it featured Taylor Hale and Kyland Young competing as a dating couple. The two were on Seasons 24 (2022) and 23 (2021) of Big Brother, respectively, and dated on and off afterwards.
However, they did not go public with their relationship until The Amazing Race casting news was announced. Ahead of the premiere, Hale confirmed to Parade that the relationship has always been “on-and-off,” and teased that fans would see them trying to figure it out during their journey on the Race.

Are Taylor Hale and Kyland Young still together?
No, Hale and Young have broken up since filming The Amazing Race. Young confirmed this in a video on X in August. “Even though we’re not a couple right now, we did date,” The Challenge star said. “There was no blow up with huge fights or cheating or scandals or any of the wild things I’ve seen online.”
He said the reason for the split was “the combination of our challenges and current circumstances of our lives [that] have made being a couple not really something that could work for us right now.” Young clarified that there were “multiple times” when he and Hale were dating and said that they were “even fully boyfriend and girlfriend” at certain points.

Young made the video to make sure fans knew the relationship was “authentic,” but added, “We’ve had our struggles and there were definitely times I let Taylor down and caused her pain and I fully own that. But I’m not going to let anyone twist this into something it wasn’t.”
It’s possible the two could even get back together, as Young added, “We don’t know what the future holds for us.”
What happened to Taylor Hale and Joseph Abdin?
Interestingly, Hale’s ex Joseph Abdin is also a contestant on Season 38 of The Amazing Race. He’s competing alongside his brother on the show. Abdin was also a contestant on Big Brother 24, finishing the season in ninth place (Hale was the winner).
Hale and Abdin confirmed they were dating in November 2022, just two months after filming Big Brother ended. However, by April 2023, they revealed they’d broken up.
“Joseph and I made the decision to love and support one another as best friends going forward,” Hale wrote on her Instagram Story at the time. “We recognize this is what’s best for both of our futures at this time. This decision was made wiht lots of love, care, and acknowledgement of how special our relationship is to the both of us.”
She concluded by writing, “Ain’t no love lost over here! We will always be part of each other’s lives. Whether it’s platonic or romantic, we are, and always will be, Jaylor.”

Despite the breakup, the two have maintained a friendly relationship. In August 2023, they attended a Big Brother premiere party together, and Hale uploaded a photo of Abdin kissing her on the cheek with the caption, “It’s forever.”
Hale also credited the relationship with teaching her how she wants to handle her romances in the future. “Something that I learned in my relationship with Joseph was that I don’t really want to be in an ultra-public relationship again,” she told PopCulture.com. “Some things are better kept private and sacred, and I really enjoyed that in my relationship with Kyland.”
Who did Kyland Young hook up with on The Challenge?
Young made his debut on The Challenge during Season 39’s Battle for a New Champion in 2023. During the season, he was involved in a showmance with Melissa Reeves. She was eliminated before him, putting an end to their fling.
Once filming ended, they did not continue to pursue a romantic relationship. “I mean, he’s a nice guy, and we’ll always be friends,” Reeves told PopCulture.com. However, she pointed out that they live in different parts of the world (she’s from England and he’s from the U.S.), so realistically, a real-life romance didn’t make sense.
During Season 40, Battle of the Eras, which was filmed in 2024, Young was hooking up with Nia Moore. However, this also fizzled out once the show ended.
“We’re not dating. I was not interested in continuing anything after the show,” Moore explained on X. “What we had stayed in Vietnam. Nothing more, nothing less. I wish him the best & he does the same.”
Young responded to the message: “Always wishing you the absolute BEST! You’re one of the dopest people I’ve ever met! Thanks for making this season extra special & beautiful.”
