‘Survivor’: Meet Jake Latimer’s Wife & Baby After Scary Medical Emergency
[Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for Survivor Season 49 Episode 3.]
Survivor Season 49 contestant Jake Latimer (a.k.a the Shoe Bandit) already made headlines when he revealed during Episode 1 that his wife was due to give birth while he was competing in Fiji. However, nothing could have prepared fans for the snake bite that instantly became Survivor‘s most shocking medical emergency to date.
During Episode 3, Kele’s Jake Latimer was bitten on the bottom of his foot by a sea krait snake while he was in the water at his tribe’s camp. From there, he was quickly medically evacuated and brought to Survivor‘s base camp as the remaining members of his tribe learned that the black and white striped sea krait was venomous. In a devastating moment on the medical bed, Jake told host Jeff Probst, “I got a kid coming.”
Luckily, Jake only received a “dry bite” from the snake, meaning that no venom was involved. However, Jake was still eliminated from the competition due to the physical and mental toll of the whole ordeal. Instead of returning to his tribe, Jake was sent back home to his expecting wife in Canada. Below, you can find everything we know about Jake’s wife and whether he made it home on time for the birth of his baby.
Who is Jake Latimer’s wife?
Jake Latimer lives in Canada with his Australian wife, Louise, whom he married in January 2023. During Episode 1, Jake shared, “Me and my wife tried to get pregnant for four and a half years. Couldn’t get pregnant. And so she went and had a procedure done. After I got [selected for Survivor] she got pregnant. So she’s giving birth to my kid while I’m here.” According to the Survivor contestant, he gave her the opportunity to tell him not to go, and she told him to “go and make some money for our family” instead.
After Episode 3 premiered and fans knew that Jake was medically evacuated, Louise posted, “The day this played out, I was still pregnant. That phone call was not easy. Watching this hits so different. So thankful he is alive. That’s not how he wanted to go. Heartbreaking to see his dream end.”

Did Jake Latimer make it home on time for his son’s birth?
Jake has confirmed that he made it home on time for the birth of his son. Survivor Season 49 was filmed from April 20 to May 15. Seeing as Jake was medically evacuated on Day 6 and Jax was born May 2, the math tells us that Jake made it home with plenty of time to rest up before his baby boy was born.
During the episode, Survivor shared a photo of Jake with his son, letting everyone know that they were both happy and healthy. On October 8, Jake looked back at his son’s birth, sharing, “God works in mysterious ways” before confessing, “It’s been killing me not to tell anyone.”
