‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ Author Casey McQuiston Reveals New Sequel Details (VIDEO)

History, huh? Red, White & Royal Blue is about to make some. More than two years after the premiere of the film adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s 2019 best-selling romance about the love story between Prince Henry of Britain and First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz, a sequel has finally been greenlit.
Red, White & Royal Wedding is the official title of the follow-up film, which will feature the returns of Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez as Henry and Alex. Mere days before the sequel news was confirmed, McQuiston spoke with Swooon at New York Comic Con about the next chapter of the story they created.
“I’ve spoken to a lot of the cast about [the sequel], and everybody is super excited to reprise their roles,” McQuiston said. “I think a lot of them really formed these amazing bonds the first time around and are just excited to see each other again.”

The author penned the script alongside Gemma Burgess and Matthew López, who directed the first film. There is no Red, White & Royal Blue book sequel, only a bonus chapter McQuiston wrote for a collector’s edition, which follows Alex and Henry’s life as a couple after the events of the first novel.
As McQuiston was writing the screenplay for the sequel, they thought “a lot about what the future would hold for Alex and Henry of the book.” They added, “For that reason, I don’t think I’ll ever say never to a book sequel.” (Manifesting this.)
Jamie Babbit will direct Red, White & Royal Wedding. From the title, fans can expect to see Alex and Henry tie the knot in what should be the royal wedding of the century. Let’s hope that the wedding cake survives the reception this time!
