How Many Children Does ‘Wicked’ Director Jon M. Chu Have? A Guide to His Family
Jon M. Chu will be making a special guest appearance on the Tuesday, October 21, episode of Dancing With the Stars. The competition will feature a special night dedicated to Wicked, the blockbuster film Chu directed. He’ll also be giving viewers a sneak peek at the upcoming sequel, Wicked: For Good.

How many children does Jon M. Chu have?
Chu and Hodge are parents to five children. Their eldest daughter, Willow, was born in July 2017, followed by son Jonathan, born in July 2019, and daughter Ruby, born in June 2021. In March 2023, they welcomed another child, Iggy, followed by their fifth baby, Stevie, in November 2024.
In fact, Chu even had to miss the premiere of Wicked for Stevie’s birth. Hodge seemingly went into labor earlier than expected, so Chu spent the evening in the hospital, instead of on the red carpet.

“Today is a day I have been dreaming about for a long time,” Chu shared. “Two babies (a movie and a little girl) all at one time and I truly couldn’t be happier. I won’t be able to be at the Wicked premiere tonight with all of you. There was a change of plans at about 4am this morning. Instead my wife and I will be welcoming our 5th child into the family and no we will not be naming her Galphaba.”
Fun fact: Chu and Hodge gave their son Jonathan the middle name Heights because Chu was working on the movie In the Heights at the time of his birth.
Willow and Jonathan were by their dad’s side for much of his press tour for Wicked in 2024. “Nothing has been better than sharing this publicity tour and release with my two oldest kids,” he wrote on Instagram. “Their eyes have been so wide the whole time and having them hold my hand while on the carpet was something I didn’t know I so deeply needed. My life has changed in the last 7 years and telling stories for how they see the world is more important to me than ever.”
Who is Jon M. Chu’s wife?
While Hodge is seemingly now dedicating her life to her family, she used to work as an art director. She held her most recent position at ATTN:, according to LinkedIn. “As an Art Director, I oversee and contribute to design for all facets of the brand including social and promotional graphics, investor presentations, partnership materials, internal communication, and website experience,” Hodge wrote.
She’s previously worked as a design consultant, graphic designer, and creative director at various companies. Hodge graduated from New York University in 2010 with a degree in integrated marketing communications and digital design. She then attended Parsons School of Design and studied communication design.
Chu and Hodge tied the knot in 2018 after welcoming their first child.
