Who Is Dax Shepard’s Ex Briegh Morrison? All About Their Past Relationship

Amidst the controversy surrounding wife Kristen Bell‘s anniversary post, Shepard released a new segment of his Armchair Expert podcast, in which he drives around in his wife’s car with his best friend and a guest. This week, they were joined by Shepard’s former longtime girlfriend, Briegh Morrison.
During the hour-long conversation, the former couple opened up about their time together and their breakup. “I will say, for a while, I did think, ‘Well, I’ll never be in love with someone again in that way,'” Shepard told his ex. “I had a deep fear. I’m like, ‘Oh, I don’t think I’ll ever really feel the way I felt about Briegh with anybody.’ I was quite scared of that.”

Who is Briegh Morrison?
Not much is known about Morrison beyond what she’s shared on her Instagram profile and Shepard’s podcast. In 2019, she shared via Instagram that she was starting a job as a middle school drama teacher after seven years of staying at home, though it’s unclear whether or not she’s still in that profession. Morrison also spoke about her recent breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, which prompted her sobriety journey.
Later on in the episode, Shepard revealed the similarities his ex shares with Bell. “Something that you guys have that I value so much is I think you two above any other people I’ve ever met, you have your opinions and your position, but you’re really able to listen to another point of view and consider it and integrate it,” he said. “Neither of you guys are, like, stuck.”
How long were Dax Shepard and Briegh Morrison together?
Shepard began his relationship with Bell in 2007. He dated Morrison for nine years in their twenties. “One of the hardest things about when we broke up was that I really had my head around we were gonna have kids,” Morrison said. “We had a house now. Was gonna be this thing that I want. I was getting on in years.”
They went to couples therapy before their amicable breakup. (Shepard recalled hardly ever fighting with his ex during their relationship.) In fact, they remained so friendly that Morrison was still coming over to Shepard’s house in the early days of his and Bell’s relationship and visiting his mom. Shepard, in turn, has invited Morrison’s parents to his comedy show in the past.

“You were around even in like the first month or two we were dating,” Shepard said. “And [Bell] had initially was like, ‘This is really wild. I’m not friends with any of my exes. I don’t hang out with any of my exes.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m friends with all mine pretty much.’ Over time, she got super comfortable with it and absolutely at ease with it.”
After Morrison had entered a new relationship, she also told her ex how great it was to have kids, which inspired Shepard. “Of course, I already wanted to have kids, but I did get off the phone with you and I’m like, yeah, let’s go,” he explained, laughing. “And I remember saying to Kristen, ‘Yeah, I just talked to Briegh. I just talked to my ex-girlfriend… Briegh advised us to procreate.'”
Who is Briegh Morrison with now?
Morrison has been married to Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum for 16 years, though they were friends for decades before they tied the knot. “I was so hopeful that you would find someone that you loved a lot again,” Shepard recalled. “And I just remember being so happy about Brad.”
Shepard also recalled that Winderbaum and Bell went on a date in college, though Morrison asserted that the actress actually dated one of Winderbaum’s friends. “She thinks they went on a date,” Shepard doubled down. “She doesn’t think anything really happened, but she thinks she went on a date.”
Winderbaum and Morrison went on to have two kids together, Mayzie and Izaac, whom she shares photos of frequently on social media.
