Before Jelly Roll blew up as a huge star on the country music scene, he married Alyssa DeFord, better known as Bunnie Xo, in 2016. However, the American Idol mentor dropped a bombshell confession about their relationship this week.

“I don’t talk about this publicly at all, but one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife” he said on the Human School podcast. “It was the first time that I was like, I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman. It was just such a … just really, really, really blew me back.”

So, are the two still together following his infidelity? Scroll down for the latest.

Are Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo still together?

Yes, the couple stayed together after Jelly Roll was unfaithful. He revealed on the podcast that he had to build back trust with his wife in order to make things work.

“I did a lot of work to repair that relationship,” he confirmed. “The repair has been special. And we’re stronger than we could have ever been.”

After Jelly made his public confession, Bunnie took to social media to address the situation. She replied to a fan who told her to “hop away” from the “Son of a Sinner” singer.

“It actually takes a stronger woman to face pain head-on, do the work, and rebuild with the man she loves — instead of running or gossiping,” she wrote. “Growth isn’t weakness, it’s grace. But not everyone’s built for that kind of strength. I pray you never have to feel that pain bc you’re judging another woman’s life.”

Do Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo have an open relationship?

No, Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo do not have an open marriage. The podcast host addressed those rumors herself in June 2025.

“You guys are clipping clips from, like, six years ago. There was a clip that went around [where I] said, ‘If I want to sleep with other men I can.’ And people have just ran with this clip for years,” she began. “I know that I’ve addressed me and my husband’s situation. I don’t understand what part of ‘we are not in an open relationship’ that people cannot comprehend.”

She further clarified the situation, adding, “The only thing that we don’t do, though, is try to control the other person. If I want to go sleep with another man, he’s not going to be like, ‘No, you’re mine.’ You can’t do that to people. The same thing if there was another woman.”

However, she made it clear that this isn’t where their relationship is at today. “This was all in the past. We’ve completely stopped all of those shenanigans because you can’t trust anybody in the world. Back in the day, that was how we looked at our relationship. We don’t want to tell each other what we can and can’t do. We have free will. That’s a huge difference than having an open relationship.”

Bunnie also noted that “we are both Christians. We love Jesus. And that’s why we have changed the uniform of our relationship. It was never open for us to have to close it.”

Do Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo have kids?

Jelly and Bunnie do not have any children together, but she is a mother figure to his two children from previous relationships. Jelly’s daughter, Bailee, was born in May 2008, followed by son Noah in August 2016.

However, the couple is trying for a baby and they are currently going through the IVF process.

“Somebody said the other day, they’re like, ‘They used to always be together. Now you never see them together.’ I’m like, do you guys not know for the past six months I’ve been trying to make a baby?” she shared on her podcast in August. She added that she’s been “going through heartbreak” and “so much s***” while trying to get pregnant.

Two months earlier, she revealed on Instagram that she received a positive phone call from her doctor, but did not specify what the news was. “This is not a pregnancy announcement – we won’t announce that,” she added. “This is just a huge win for us 🙏🏻.”

They began their IVF journey in the spring of 2024.
