After saying “I do” as strangers, Married at First Sight‘s Will and Brittany’s life-altering journey began. They went to Panama for their honeymoon, and like a few other couples this season, some explosive arguments went down. Once they settled back into their day-to-day life in Austin, Texas, things settled. However, the couple’s tension grew over time. Right before Decision Day, Will even told Brittany that he was going to walk away — but did he follow through?

Ultimately, Will changed his mind after having an emotional conversation with his wife on Decision Day. Were they still together when the show caught up with them at the reunion, which was filmed a year and a half after Decision Day? In addition to breaking down their journey so far, Swooon has all the latest updates on Will and Brittany’s relationship below.

Are Married at First Sight’s Will and Brittany still together?

Despite committing to each other at the end of Episode 13, Will and Brittany are no longer together. Brittany said that she and Will hadn’t spoken for about a year and a half when they sat down at the reunion. They broke up about a week after Decision Day. Will blocked her number at that point, so Brittany tried to fight for their marriage via letter. Will didn’t read it.

“Watching it back, I want to clarify that not at any point did I think you were a bad person,” Brittany reflected at the reunion. “I don’t think that you were trying to intentionally hurt my feelings, and I don’t think I ever questioned that you loved me… It was all just a breakdown in communication.”

What happened with Will and Brittany during the show?

The couple’s honeymoon got off to a difficult start because of multiple arguments. The biggest blowup occurred when Brittany told Will that he hadn’t asked her enough questions, while Will thought the opposite was true. “I’m frustrated ’cause we’re on two separate… I won’t even say two separate pages,” she said. “We’re like in different books. I need someone who can communicate.” Brittany then left their hotel room, telling producers that talking to Will was like talking to someone who doesn’t talk back. Will didn’t go after his wife.

However, once they started living together, their relationship wasn’t quite as explosive. In Episode 8, Brittany and Will went on a wrestling date, and Brittany said she “loved the direction” they were going. She also said she had no doubts about her husband. Will responded that things might change over time, which rubbed Brittany the wrong way. “You don’t feel things like I do,” she told him. In a separate interview, she added, “Just give me that validation that I think I deserve and I think that I need.”

On their one-month anniversary, Brittany said that she thought she’d feel different about her marriage at that point. When she brought up the fact that she wasn’t sure about his current feelings toward her, Will confirmed that he was happy and enjoyed being with her. “I have love for her, I care for her, but being in love with her, I don’t think I can say that yet,” he said, adding that it’s unrealistic to feel that way so early.

In Episode 9, they told the experts that things were going well between them. Will said there were no issues, while Brittany was more doubtful. She said she wasn’t sure where Will stood regarding whether he would say yes on Decision Day. “If it was today, I would say yes, but I don’t know what’s going to transpire in the next three or four weeks for that,” he said, which made Brittany feel like she was walking on eggshells. The experts encouraged them to be vulnerable with each other.

Episode 10 saw the couples reunite at a retreat, and Brittany’s uncertainty about her husband’s feelings resurfaced. When they talked about what they needed to work on as a couple, Will didn’t answer at first, which caused a spat between them. “I think what’s pissing me off is Will doesn’t tell me things he’s feeling,” she said, adding that she wanted more effort from him. Brittany wasn’t sure if it meant he didn’t care.

Later on, Will said that things could be better between them, which hurt Brittany’s feelings. “It seems like he just doesn’t want to understand where all this is coming from, and maybe that’s on purpose. Maybe it is because I’m not his person,” she said in an interview at the end of the episode.

In the next handful of episodes, the tension subsided, and Will said “I love you” to Brittany for the first time in Episode 11. Brittany also confirmed that she saw a future for them and was confident she would choose to stay with Will on Decision Day. Will, however, didn’t share the same mindset at the end of Episode 12. “I’ve kind of ignored my feelings, my thoughts, because I felt as if I couldn’t express myself based off of how she may react or how she would feel,” he explained.

After thinking about his biggest fears and issues related to the relationship, Will called Brittany to tell her he would say “no” on Decision Day. “Part of me doesn’t believe him, and that’s the part that wants to fight, but I don’t really know where to go from here,” Brittany said in a confessional. Will and Brittany walked away from Decision Day together, but a future as a couple wasn’t meant to be. Their relationship ended just days later.
