Who Is Bindi Irwin’s Husband? Inside Her Marriage to Chandler Powell
Bindi Irwin won Season 21 of Dancing With the Stars when she was just 17 years old. This year, she’s back in the ballroom supporting her younger brother, Robert Irwin, in his own quest for the Mirrorball trophy.

Who is Chandler Powell?
Since moving to Australia for Bindi, Chandler has been working as a wildlife conservationist at the Australia Zoo with his wife and her family.
However, Chandler, who grew up in Florida, was previously a professional wakeboarder. He picked up the sport when he was 12 and began competing professionally at 15. He retired from the sport in 2016 and attended the University of Central Florida before relocating to Australia.
How did Bindi Irwin meet her husband?
Chandler and Bindi first met in 2013 when they were just teenagers. He was visiting Australia from the United States for a wakeboarding competition and stopped by the Australia Zoo, which is where Bindi and her family live.
With Bindi’s mom’s permission, the two continued to correspond with one another from across the world. “She ended up giving me a tour, and we ended up staying in touch ever since,” Chandler once shared. The relationship eventually turned romantic, and by the time Bindi was on Dancing With the Stars in 2015, they were a couple.
“We talk every day and are together every two to three months,” she shared at the time. In 2018, Chandler moved to Australia to be with Bindi, and he proposed on her 21st birthday in 2019.
Although Bindi and Chandler initially had plans to tie the knot in April 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic derailed their big day. Instead, they wed on March 25, 2020, with just her mother, brother, and late father’s best friend in attendance.
Do Chandler Powell and Bindi Irwin have kids?
Yes, Chandler and Bindi have a baby daughter named Grace. They announced Bindi’s pregnancy in August 2020 and welcomed Grace on March 25, 2021, which also happened to be their one-year wedding anniversary.
In September 2024, the couple revealed that they likely won’t be expanding their family. “Basically it was an absolute miracle that we had Grace,” Chandler explained in a Q&A video, referring to Bindi’s endometriosis diagnosis, which she went public with after having surgery in 2023.
Chandler continued, “We love Grace so much and are reveling in every little moment we have with her, with our little miracle baby. So we are so happy with our little family at three.”

Bindi then jumped in to point out, “I really appreciate everybody who’s curious to see if we will have another child, but I do just want to send it out there that remember to be careful when you ask this question because you never know what’s happening in someone’s life. In a family’s world, everything may seem fine on the outside, and on the inside, their own personal journey might have been filled with turmoil and challenges that, you know, you can’t even fathom.”
While she said “you never know” what the future holds, she also admitted, “[Grace] is our beautiful girl, but she will probably be our one child. So she will be our one child.”
