What To Know

  • Younger initially ran for seven seasons, first on TV Land and then on Paramount+/Hulu, from 2015 to 2021.
  • A broader audience was introduced to the series after it was added to Netflix in 2025.
  • Hilary Duff opened up about the resurgence and how she feels about the devoted fanbase.

Hilary Duff and Sutton Foster‘s show Younger had a loyal fan base throughout its seven-season run from 2015 to 2021. But because the show was on TV Land (before moving to Hulu and Paramount+ for Season 7), it never had a major mainstream breakthrough, and instead relied on its cult following to keep it on the air.

In early 2025, Younger was added to Netflix, which exposed a whole new audience to the beloved comedy-drama. And yes, Duff is very aware of this resurgence.

“When Younger got put on Netflix, it had this whole resurgence and people were so excited to find that show,” she said on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast. “That show was always like the little engine that could. I felt like people that saw it loved it, but not too many people knew about it, but it went on for, like, seven years. It was a very long-running show. People loved it. But when it was finally on Netflix a year ago, or something, everybody thought it was a new show. It was really fun to have everyone fall in love with it all over again.”

Duff played Kelsey Peters, a 20-something woman who worked in publishing, on Younger. Her character developed a close friendship with Foster’s Liza, a single mom in her 40s who was disguising herself as a woman in her 20s so she’d have a better chance of getting back in the workforce. Liza got a job at Kelsey’s company and their friendship blossomed (yes, she did eventually come clean about her age).

After Younger ended, Duff continued to put acting at the forefront of her career and was cast in the leading role on How I Met Your Father, which ran for two seasons in 2022 and 2023. However, now, for the first time in 10 years, she’s returning to her music roots with a new song, “Mature.”

“[Music] is just exposure way differently than, like, going and filming someone else’s script,” Duff explained. “I think that’s why I took such a big break. I wasn’t ready. I wasn’t, like, in a space to be sharing like that, you know? But it is the best way to connect.”
