Long before Tom took to the ballroom as the host of Dancing With the Stars, he met and married his wife, Lois. While Tom has been known to keep his decades-long relationship out of the spotlight, he has made a few rare comments about his wife. Discussing his wife’s impact on his career, Tom revealed on the Takin’ a Walk podcast, “Well, she’s a hard one to make laugh. If I can make Lois laugh, I know it was a good ad lib.” The duo currently lives together in Massachusetts.

How did Tom Bergeron meet his wife?
While not much is known about how Tom and Lois met, he gives fans a window into their first date in his memoir, I’m Hosting as Fast as I Can!: Zen and the Art of Staying Sane in Hollywood. There, the Dancing With the Stars host revealed that he had a “bad temper” growing up, which faded when he met Lois. Describing the memoir, his publisher wrote, “Tom′s petulance remained a problem until his first date with a woman who threatened to end their relationship when, in a fit of anger, he put a dent in his car door.” According to Tom, the woman said, “‘If you want us to go any further, you′d better do something about that,” inspiring him to “control his temper.” As the publisher put it, “That woman later became his wife, by the way.”
When did Tom and Lois Bergeron get married?
Tom married his wife, Lois, in May 1982. In both 2022 and 2023, Bergeron posted pictures from their wedding to celebrate their anniversary. Four decades together inspired the message, “40 Years Ago Today 😳🥰 (and she STILL puts up with me).” However, the next year proved even more exciting, as he told his followers, “We spent our 41st anniversary yesterday at the @santaynez Hospital (great staff, btw) with yours truly being treated for food poisoning & a bruised rib (it’s a long story 🤦🏻😏). Home & resting now & reminded again of how lucky I am that, 41 years ago, she said, ‘I do.'”

Does Tom Bergeron have kids?
Tom and Lois Bergeron have two daughters, who are both in their 30s. Much like their mother, daughters Samantha and Jessica keep their lives pretty private, save for a few “Daughters Day” posts from their dad.
In 2024, Bergeron gave a window into his life as a parent, writing, “For years, when our daughters were little, I’d be out the door by 3:30 or 4am, off to host a morning radio or, later, TV show. I’d leave cartoons for them on the kitchen island. A way of still being there when they woke up for school. Even years later, when they were older and I’d be heading to JFK or Logan Airport to fly to Los Angeles, the tradition continued. Our family cat, a majestic Maine Coon named Tigger, was often the star of the drawings.”
