90 Day Fiancé newbie Greta Lin told viewers that she came to England looking for the Mr. Darcy to her Elizabeth Bennett. However, now that we’ve reached the end of The Other Way Season 7, it’s clear that Greta and her now ex-fiancé, Matthew, were headed most ardently to Splitsville all along. Season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way introduced viewers to Greta, a 27-year-old animal lover and lawyer from Norman, Oklahoma, and Matthew, a 26-year-old finance bro and self-proclaimed nerd from Market Harborough, England, after the duo bonded initially over their veganism. So, she traveled to live with Matthew in England, even though it meant leaving her beloved cat, Hazel, back in the States for the time being. While the couple originally appeared to be one of the strongest of the bunch, a stark disagreement about family plans caused their strong foundation to crumble.

Are Greta and Matthew still together?
Ahead of the Tell All, Greta and Matthew have broken up. After less than a week together, Greta called things off, telling Matthew she hadn’t felt a spark in quite a while. He admitted, “Nothing in the world could have prepared me for those words. You don’t just suddenly not love someone. These things build up over time. And I had no idea it was building up. All this time.” She later returned his engagement ring.
While Greta and Matthew shared a less dramatic split than 90 Day fans are used to, it was hard not to get choked up while watching the couple say their goodbyes. Namely, when Matthew pointed out that they had spent little time together in England without the cameras. He whispered, “We’ve only seen each other with a camera crew around us.” In response, Greta told him, “It doesn’t have to do with the cameras.” His response? “For me, it does.” Where’s a tissue when you need it!

Why did Greta and Matthew break up?
Episode 13 began with Greta calling her friend, revealing, “For the past six months, we did not feel very connected, and there was definitely a decline in the relationship. So, I started to wonder if he isn’t my person.” Later, Greta told Matthew about her concerns during a very clear “we need to talk” conversation.
She told him, “I feel really guilty. I think you’re like one of the greatest people I’ve ever met, but I don’t really think I’m being very fair to you at all. And, I’m just so, so grateful I met you. You deserve the world, and you deserve to be really happy, and you deserve to be with someone who loves you to the most that their heart can handle, and who reciprocates your affection and appreciates what an amazing partner you are.” That was when she dropped the biggest bombshell of the season so far: “The honest truth is, I don’t think I love you anymore.” Oof!
Ahead of their emotional conversation, Greta and Matthew had seen their fair share of challenging moments throughout their limited time living together. During Episode 10, Greta continued to discuss her concerns about her relationship with Matthew, explaining, “Since I arrived in England, things have been up and down. It feels like Matthew and I are on different pages about everything, like money, where we’re going to live, and the future. It’s been a bumpy start.”
During an exclusive interview with Swooon, Greta revealed that she had given Matthew a warning that she wanted to break up, even though he claimed to be blindsided. She explained, “I felt like I had basically said everything you would say when you end a relationship without officially ending it,” before breaking up on camera.

Where are Greta and Matthew today?
While we’ll have to wait until the Tell All for a full update, Swooon‘s exclusive sneak peek of the Tell All reveals that Matthew is seeing someone new. As for their lives outside of romance, a few things are clear from their social media profiles. To start with, Greta now lives in London. Whether this is a compromise or a new beginning is anyone’s guess. Now that she no longer lives with Matthew’s parents, Greta also appears to have been reunited with Hazel, her beloved cat. While Matthew is not active on social media (his last photo is from 2023), he and Greta do still follow each other.
How did Greta and Matthew meet?
Greta and Matthew met on a vegan dating app three years before she moved to England to be with him. She explained, “I always felt like animals get me, and humans don’t until I met Matthew.” On the other hand, Matthew revealed, “I’m normally attracted to eccentric women. My relationships are often like a spicy pasta. I’m the stable, nice tomato sauce that acts as the base, and they’re the chili thrown straight in whole.” For their first date, Matthew wrote index cards with topics to keep the conversation rolling. After a whirlwind two weeks together, they kept their relationship going long-distance.
Did Greta and Matthew want children?
One major disagreement between Greta and Matthew has been about having kids in the future. While Matthew is set on becoming a dad, Greta isn’t so sure that becoming a parent is her path. Greta admitted to Matthew’s mother, “When we first met, we both wanted children, like a lot. But I’ve been having a lot of anxiety about having children recently. And I can’t tell if it’s a phase or not.” She also recognized, “I mean, I know he wants children, and I think he should have children. I think he’s the type of person who would be a really amazing dad, and I don’t want to take that from him.”
When Greta confessed how she was feeling to Matthew, he told her, “That’s a bombshell… I absolutely want kids, and I want those kids with you, cause you are the one for me.” Looking back at her experience losing her mother at a young age, he asked, “Do you think, maybe the reason why you feel like you don’t want kids is because you had a difficult childhood?”

While Greta stated that her upbringing had actually inspired her to want a family of her own, she revealed, “I was really sure about wanting kids, and then I started to really think about what having a child would mean and what my life would look like if I had a kid. And I think having a kid and a family life would be a major deterrent to the kind of advocate that I have always wanted to be.”
Of course, Matthew encouraged Greta to look at having kids as a way to expand her advocacy even further. He even went as far as to say, “If you don’t have the time to be a mother, I will be 200% of the father.”
