Are Married at First Sight’s Patric Jameson and Rhonda Muenzler Wunderlin endgame material? When experts matched the Season 19 stars, they became the most mature couple in the show’s history. But was this match meant to be?  The Texans had both been married before, but they wanted to take a chance on love again.

Pat, a 59-year-old space operations consultant, and Rhonda, a 63-year-old marketing exec, tied the knot at first sight, went on their honeymoons, exchanged “I love yous,” and moved in together during the eight-week experiment. At the end, they ultimately decided to stay together, though Pat originally had planned on saying “no.” So, were Rhonda and Pat still married at the reunion, which was filmed a year and a half later? Let’s dive in.

Are Married at First Sight’s Pat and Rhonda still together?

Pat and Rhonda have parted ways. At the reunion, Rhonda revealed that they had broken up after nine months. Once Pat returned from a solo Europe trip, Rhonda thought things were going well until Pat said he felt angry. It was because they hadn’t had sex in the 10 days since he’d returned. They met for dinner shortly after, which is when Pat said he was done.

“I would have enjoyed more [sex], so I would say no,” Pat said when asked if his physical needs were being met. “It was something I had felt for quite some time.”

Rhonda explained that she wasn’t initiating intimacy because she was turned off by Pat’s insecurity, and at the time, she tried to explain that intimacy isn’t just physical. “The way I received it was I lost respect for you, and I wasn’t attracted to you,” Pat countered. “My switch just flipped off, and when it’s off, it’s off.”

Regardless of how it ended, Pat and Rhonda do still follow each other, unlike the other Season 19 couples. They’ve also had some friendly exchanges on Instagram since the season began. On November 11, Pat shared one of their dates that didn’t make it into the show. The couple took a private two-step lesson.

“For never two stepping, you @patricj_tx picked it up soooo quick!” Rhonda commented. “You were amazing and it was a blast! This def should have been shown!! Esp because it shows just how hard it was for me to let go. 😂”

What happened between Pat and Rhonda during filming?

Before Decision Day, Rhonda recalled Pat walking away in the middle of a conversation at the grocery store. “I’m kind of shut down because I don’t want to talk about it because I’ll be accused of… I don’t know, lecturing him, criticizing him, so I don’t say anything, and he’s like, ‘Is everything OK?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah,'” she said. “He is pretty clueless. This communication s**t is hard.”

When they talked about it, Pat thought that Rhonda wasn’t looking at the whole picture and that he was doing a good job of being present overall. Later on, Pat explained that he felt like he was walking on eggshells. He told Rhonda that he was interested in her and acknowledged that he could work on communication. At the same time, he felt like he couldn’t be himself.

The hiccup came after a few others emerged in the previous episodes. Despite having fun together on their honeymoon, Rhonda began to notice that Pat was “really comfortable talking about himself” and rarely asked her “follow-up questions,” and she brought her concern to his attention. She was worried it was a sign that he wasn’t actually interested in her.

After moving in together in Episode 6, Pat and Rhonda worked out some of their relationship kinks during their visit with a MAFS expert. “Even though we still have a lot of work to do, I think that I’m learning [and] we’re both fighting for our future together,” Rhonda said in Episode 7.

Their one-month anniversary found the couple sharing their interests and bonding, though when Rhonda brought Pat to a concert, she once again expressed her fear about him not being interested in her. Later, when they visited the grave of Rhonda’s father, she felt like Pat wasn’t listening to her, but they talked it out.

In Episode 13, Pat had made up his mind to walk away. He referenced his first marriage, when he ignored the red flags. “I do not trust that I will be seen and heard as my authentic self,” he explained. Afterward, Rhonda shared that her emotional needs weren’t being met. The experts encouraged them to look at the positives of their relationship, and Pat changed his mind.

“I want to face my fears with you and develop the ways that we can be nurturing and be loving and be supportive and be there for one another,” Pat explained. While Rhonda said she felt the same going into Decision Day, but was less hopeful after their conversation. Still, Rhonda and Pat chose each other at the end of filming.
