It won’t be long before you can watch the ballroom dancing rivals become lovers. Netflix launches the movie on December 18.
What is 10DANCE about?
Suzuki and Sugiki have been compared to each other throughout their careers, despite dancing in different categories. The former reigns as the Japanese champion of Latin dance, while the latter is the Japanese champion in standard ballroom dancing, ranked second in the world. Sugiki surprises Suzuki with an offer: Team up and win the 10-Dance Competition, which involves performing in both Latin and standard ballroom styles on the world stage.
Suzuki, who rejects the idea at first, comes around to the idea once Sugiki sparks Suzuki’s competitive spirit. They butt heads while they teach each other during their daily lessons. As they grow closer, Suzuki realizes he has feelings for his dance partner.

Who is in the 10DANCE movie cast?
Takeuchi and Machida share the screen for the first time in nearly eight years, and the former is making his Netflix film debut as the intense and disciplined Suzuki. He’s known for his performances in Kamen Rider Drive and Love You as the World Ends. The movie is also his first foray into ballroom dancing, according to Netflix. He and Machida, known for Netflix’s Alice in Borderland and Glass Heart, underwent months of intensive training for their roles.
The rest of the cast includes Shiori Doi as Aki Tajima, Suzuki’s Latin partner, and Anna Ishii as Fusako Yagami, Sugiki’s ballroom partner.
What manga is 10DANCE based on?
Screenwriter Yoshida Tomoko has adapted the acclaimed manga 10DANCE, written by Inouesatoh. The author’s series is still ongoing, which could mean that a sequel could be in the cards eventually.
“Initially, I felt anxious about the adaptation, fearing it would be impossible without a significant budget and talented team,” Inouesatoh told Netflix. “However, knowing Netflix and Director Otomo are involved eased my worries. The casting of Mr. Takeuchi and Mr. Machida is perfect, capturing the essence of the characters. I am confident they will express the sensuality and joy beyond the manga, and I eagerly await the film’s completion.”
