Take a deep breath, Tell Me Lies fans. After that Season 2 finale, you know the third season of the hit Hulu drama is about to kick the backstabbing and relationship drama to new heights.

The series, based on Carola Lovering’s novel of the same name, continues to unfold across two timelines: college and post-college. In the college timeline, Lucy (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen (Jackson White) got back together despite Lucy trying everything to move on from him. She’s still down bad for the toxic Stephen, which leads to their eventual reunion. While speaking to Swooon, Van Patten hinted that Lucy will continue her downward spiral now that she’s back with Stephen.

“I think there’s always further to fall when Stephen is involved. That’s all I’ll say,” Van Patten said.

After getting back together, Stephen learns that Lucy and Evan (Branden Cook) hooked up. While he doesn’t reveal what he knows until Bree (Cat Missal) and Evan’s wedding day years later, it’s highly likely that Stephen is going to be at his most manipulative in the Season 3 college timeline. No one holds a grudge like Stephen DeMarco.

Stephen drops the Evan and Lucy secret in a message to Bree just before she’s going to walk down the aisle. (Leave Bree alone!) Bree and Lucy have been best friends since college, but will this bombshell destroy their friendship? Van Patten stayed tight-lipped. “I can’t answer that without giving too much away,” she said.

Needless to say, the drama is going to get even messier in Season 3. Even after years apart, Stephen and Lucy still can’t quit each other. As her relationship with Max (Edmund Donovan) crumbled leading up to the wedding, thanks to Stephen, Lucy thought it was a sound idea to have a steamy pre-wedding hookup with her ex, who is currently engaged to her former best friend, Lydia (Natalee Linez).

Will Stephen continue to have the upper hand? Will someone finally take him down in Season 3? We’ll just have to wait and see. Lucy’s still in the passenger seat next to Stephen, and if she’s not careful, she could end up like Macy (Lily McInerny).
