For the first time in seven years, Ariana Grande is back on the road for her Eternal Sunshine tour. After dedicating several years to Wicked, Grande is focused on music once again, and she’s also undergoing some changes in her personal life.

During the filming of Wicked, Grande ended her marriage to Dalton Gomez and started dating costar Ethan Slater. Their romance went public in 2023, but things have changed in recent months.

Grande and Slater were always very private about their relationship and kept their love off social media, so they have not commented on their current status, but scroll down for everything we know.

Are Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater still together?

No, Grande and Slater are reportedly no longer together. TMZ was first to report the breakup on June 8, and a source confirmed to People that the two have “quietly been broken up for several months.” The outlet’s source revealed that the breakup was “amicable” and that Grande and Slater are “still friends.’

When Wicked: For Good came out in November, People reported that the then-couple was going strong. “They both have a lot going on, but their relationship is the real deal,” the outlet reported. “They’re incredibly supportive of each other’s careers and so excited for everyone to see their new film.” However, things have since fizzled.

How did Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater meet?

Grande and Slater met while filming Wicked in 2022. She plays Galinda Upland (later Glinda the Good), while he plays Boq Woodsman.

When production on the movie began, both stars were in relationships with other people. Grande was married to = Gomez, whom she wed in 2021. Slater was married to Lilly Jay, with whom he’d been in a relationship since 2012, and welcomed a child in August 2022.

Grande and Gomez’s separation was confirmed in February 2023, and they filed for divorce that September (it was finalized the following year). Slater filed for divorce from Jay in July 2023, and it was finalized in September 2024.

The public’s perception of the timeline sparked an online discourse against the couple, particularly because of Slater’s newborn child. “It definitely doesn’t get any easier, seeing some of the negativity that was birthed by disreputable tabloids,” Grande told Vanity Fair in 2024. “Of course, I went through a lot of life changes during the filming of this movie. A lot of people that were working on it did. We were away for two years. So, of course, I understand why it was a field day for the tabloids to sort of create something that paid their bills.”

The singer insisted that the narrative that played out in the media isn’t accurate. “The most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of it,” she shared. “That was definitely a tough ride.”

She specifically addressed the rumors that Slater ditched his wife and child for her. “There couldn’t be a less accurate depiction of a human being than the one that the tabloids spread about him,” Grande said. “No one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about. There is no one on this earth with a better heart, and that is something that no bulls**t tabloid can rewrite in real life.”
