On November 23, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? stars Andrei and Elizabeth Castravet shared the devastating news that Elizabeth’s dad, Chuck Potthast, had died at the age of 64.
In the official post, Elizabeth wrote, “Two weeks ago, tragedy struck our family, and it has left us completely shattered. My sweet, loving, and caring dad went to heaven. We’re trying to figure out how to navigate our lives and move forward without him.” She also asked her followers to respect their privacy “during this extremely difficult time.”

Who was Chuck Potthast?
Elizabeth’s father, who died on November 9, was a real estate investor and military veteran from Tampa, Florida. Prior to his death, Chuck was extremely close to Elizabeth and her family. During their time in Moldova, Andrei’s home country, at the start of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Season 9, Chuck was by Elizabeth and Andrei’s side, looking at properties in Moldova with the couple.
In a TikTok posted on August 8, the real estate investor said that everyone should watch them tour houses in Moldova because he thought fans would be interested in the difference between houses here and there.

As a recurring cast member, Chuck was a beloved figure in the 90 Day Fiancé community. Following his death, fans took to his TikTok page writing messages like, “RIP Chuck you were my favorite Dad from TV 💔,” and “You shined so much love and wisdom on this world.”
How did Chuck Potthast die?
Chuck died after a long battle with glioblastoma and additional complications. Chuck had addressed his nearly decade-long cancer diagnosis on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? when Elizabeth was pregnant with her second child. He told her, “The last thing I want to see as a dad is you and your sisters and your mom on the outs when the baby comes. The Lord didn’t save my life to see my family fractured like this.”

Chuck kept fans updated on his health when he could. In a video update shared on September 14, Chuck said, “My surgery was supposed to be about three to four hours long to fix hernias from my previous cancer operations that had developed. Once they got in there, they seen that my stomach wall had completely collapsed, so they had to fix that, which they did.” The surgery ended up taking eight hours.

While Chuck and his ex-wife, Pamela Putnam, are long divorced, his death has made fans curious about Elizabeth’s mom. Chuck and Pamela reportedly got married at 18 when she became pregnant with their first child. Pamela, who does not appear on 90 Day Fiancé, is a children’s talent agent and the owner of Stellar Talent and Image, “a faith-based boutique agency representing actors, models, singers, and dancers ages 5 & older.” After their divorce, Chuck never remarried, but Pamela is married to a man named Walter.

I’m really only speaking with my dad and Becky, and sometimes my mom. Honestly, once I took some time apart, I saw how good it was, and you just see life in the world differently. Becky shared her own tribute to her father via Instagram. “Two weeks ago on this day my world became distorted into a place I don’t understand. My father Chuck went home to be with The Lord. The pain is still more than I can bare so this is all I can write,” she wrote.
