Téa Leoni and Tim Daly met and fell in love on the set of Madam Secretary, but Leoni actually predicted she’d marry Daly before they even met. Yes, you read that right.
Daly gushed about his marriage to Leoni in a new interview and revealed when he knew he was in love with her. He also opened up about their pre-Madam Secretary connection and Leoni’s shockingly accurate romance prediction.
The Leanne star recalled that he and Leoni attended the same Vermont boarding school, The Putney School, but they attended at different times. While Leoni was still in school, Daly made the 1982 movie Diner, which he told LifeMinute “was a little bit of a splash” on campus.
“She saw the movie, and she told her roommate that she was going to marry me someday, having never met me. So, she gets what she wants,” he revealed.

When it comes to manifesting, Leoni is certainly an expert. The actors ended up playing spouses Elizabeth and Henry McCord on Madam Secretary for six seasons, and they fell in love offscreen as well.
Daly admitted that he knew about “four minutes after I met her at the office of Madam Secretary” that he was in love with her. During the first season of the show, Leoni and Daly were attempting to keep their new romance under wraps. “We were supposedly trying to keep it quiet, be on the down low. But it’s like, the teamsters were picking us up at each other’s houses all the time, and we’re looking at each other [with] goo goo eyes,” he said.
The couple couldn’t hide their romance for long. Leoni and Daly made their red carpet debut as a couple at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2015.
They dated for over 10 years before getting married in a private ceremony on July 12, 2025.
