The Jersey Shore cast reunited for a special occasion recently: Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola’s wedding to Justin May! Three months after welcoming their first child, the couple tied the knot with all of Giancola’s castmates (aside from ex Ronnie Ortiz-Magro) in attendance.
While all of cast members with significant others brought their spouses to the event, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was joined by her best friend Joey Camasta instead, sparking speculation that there’s trouble in paradise between her and husband Jionni LaValle.

Are Snooki and Jionni LaValle still together?
Yes, Polizzi and LaValle are still together, despite his absence at Giancola’s wedding. While Polizzi did not reveal why her husband was not in attendance, their recent social media activity has made it clear that they’re still happily married.
Polizzi turned 38 in November and celebrated on a night out with her husband, which she documented on Instagram. LaValle also posted a birthday tribute, writing, “Happy Birthday to this gemmm!! Can’t thank her enough for the mother and wife she is!!!! Keep amazing us Nicole !!! #LuckyGuy #HappyBday.”

Polizzi also posted a family photo (below) with LaValle and their kids as they celebrated her birthday. “This is 38. Counting my blessing everyday,” she captioned the shot. Thank you so much for all the birthday love today.”
Why isn’t Snooki’s husband on Jersey Shore?
Although LaValle continued to film Jersey Shore with Polizzi in 2011 and 2012, he has not been on the show since it came back as Jersey Shore: Family Vacation in 2018.
“Guys, Im going to visit this subject one time and one time only so……. My wife is filming a scene packing up and leaving for her new show and I AM CHOOSING TO NOT be on TV because I simply DO NOT like it,” he explained in a now-deleted post on Instagram in 2018. “Nicole and I are going great and became even stronger together while raising our beautiful kids. HOWEVER you will not see me on her reality show. Beng [sic] a reality was never something I wanted to be when I grew up.”
He added, “I own my own business and work hard at it, that’s what I do. My wife is a reality star and works hard at that, that’s what she does. We ARE not divorced. For the HATERS I hope this message finds you and confuses you even more about life and for the FANS of my wife and her show …I got your back!!! God Bless Yas!”
In a 2022 interview with HollywoodLife, Polizzi admitted that her husband “hates” being on TV, but said she “respects” his decision. “I think the fact that that aspect of my life isn’t shown is nice,” she shared. “It’s private and it’s just us. When I come home, I feel like it’s just us and I don’t feel like a lot of people are watching. It’s just different than everyone else that does have their spouse on, which is nice, but I feel like this is what works for us.”
When she spoke to InTouch in December 2024, she said she was “still trying” to convince him to film. “Who knows?” she said. “You know, we’re still doing more seasons, or always filming. But he’s doing good.”
How many kids do Snooki and Jionni LaValle have?
The couple has three children. Their eldest son, Lorenzo, was born in August 2012 (Polizzi was pregnant during the final season of Jersey Shore’s initial run). Today, he is a wrestler and plays baseball.

Following Lorenzo came Giovanna, who was born in September 2014. Giovanna has followed in her mom’s footsteps and is a competitive cheerleader.
The couple completed their family with son Angelo in May 2019.
How did Snooki and Jionni LaValle meet?
Polizzi and LaValle met like any good Jersey Shore couple — at the nightclub Karma! They met in 2010 while Polizzi was filming Season 3 of Jersey Shore, and their first encounter was documented on the show. Polizzi was on the prowl for “gorilla juiceheads” at Karma and grabbed LaValle on the dance floor.
She brought him home that night, but was admittedly not interested in anything beyond a “one-night stand” at the time. After filming ended, though, she decided to give him another chance, and by October 2010, she was posting about him on social media. When the Jersey Shore cast went to Italy to film Season 4 in 2011, she and LaValle were a couple.
They hit a rough patch when Polizzi hooked up with Vinny Guadagnino in Italy, but ended up reconciling and getting engaged. In March 2012, Polizzi publicly confirmed the engagement, along with news that she was pregnant with her and LaValle’s first child.
They tied the knot on November 29, 2014, just two months after welcoming Giovanna.
