Who is Before the 90 Days star Laura Nevenner?
TLC introduces 47-year-old Laura as “a fun-loving and active romantasy novel enthusiast.” During the premiere, we found out that Laura is a fifth-grade teacher and an AI enthusiast. She revealed, “I got married when I was only 21, and it just didn’t work out. In the years since then, I’ve dated some really nice guys. I even got engaged at one point, but I feel like there was always something missing because most guys haven’t been very interested in the things that I like until I met Michal.” That being said, Laura is not on the show to date Michal. She’s currently dating a man named Birkan.
On the pickleball court, she told to her friends, “I met a guy online.” Shocked to hear that her new boyfriend is over 20 years younger than her, Laura’s friends are quick to ask questions. According to TLC, “Laura’s doubters include her parents, worried she’s making another mistake, and her best friend Michal, who might be secretly in love with her.”

Laura’s boyfriend, Birkan, is a 26-year-old from Turkey, whom she describes as “the man of my dreams.” As Laura puts it, “Birkan has this amazing bad boy aesthetic. He’s got a smoking hot tattoo, and he is straight off the pages of a romance novel.” Per TLC, “Birkan is quiet and philosophical, with a mysterious past.” For that reason, right now, it’s unclear if Birkan is Laura’s Rhysand or Tamlin. Only time will tell!
How did Laura and Birkan meet?
According to Laura, she met Birkan on Snapchat, when what started as an innocent quest for a cute Christmas filter turned into loads of guys sliding into her DMs. She explained, “I had no idea there was a find a friend feature, so that piqued my interest more than the actual filters. So I never actually got a Christmas filter. Instead, I got a lot of guys in my DMs, and the one I was most interested in was Birkan.”

When Laura confirmed that she was dating someone new, she was quick to add, “It’s not Michal.” Ironically, Michal was standing right next to her. According to Laura, Michal is her best friend. However, she made a surprising admission. “I think my best friend has feelings for me that are more than just friendship,” she said. Laura shared, “I first met Michal playing pickleball at a local park. We clicked instantly and also just cleaned up on the court.” She admitted, “The more Michael and I started hanging out, we just realized we had a ton in common.”
At one point, Laura went as far as to say, “Everyone who has seen Michal and me interact would assume that we are either dating or are married. And even though things have been confusing between us at times, he really is just my best friend.” While it’s clear that Michal has feelings for his bestie, the cards are still out on whether Laura could feel the same.
