What To Know
- Joan Vassos set the record straight on her relationship with Chock Chapple amid fan speculation that they split.
- She previously failed to mention him in a Thanksgiving social media post, which sparked the breakup rumors.
- The Golden Bachelorette star also revealed her upcoming Christmas plans with Chapple.
Joan Vassos had the internet in a frenzy last month when she failed to mention fiancé Chock Chapple in a post-Thanksgiving Instagram post. Fans of The Golden Bachelorette quickly began speculating that the couple had broken up after more than a year together.
Ahead of the holidays, Vassos appeared on the Almost Famous podcast to reveal where she and Chapple stand, why she left him out of the social media tribute, and her reaction to all the speculation.
“I’ve gotten so much crap on social media because I talked about Thanksgiving and I was like, ‘I’m thankful for my family, friends, whatever … and I consider [Chapple] family,” Vassos explained. “So I didn’t say Chock individually because he’s my family. I got so much crap. Everybody’s like, ‘They broke up.'”
Vassos said she “didn’t think [she] had to” mention Chapple specifically by name. “I think it’s assumed,” she said. “So, thank you for asking. The rumors are all untrue.” She also addressed a recent social media rumor that claimed she died in a “tragic accident,” making sure to note, “I’m alive, and I’m still with Chock!”
The couple got engaged on Season 1 of The Golden Bachelorette in 2024, and although they’re still living apart (he’s near his business in Kansas, while she’s closer to her kids and grandkids in Maryland), they’re gearing up to spend the holiday season together. Vassos revealed that she and Chapple rented an Airbnb in New York City for most of December and into January.
“We’re going to be together a lot,” she confirmed, before adding that Chapple will be at her house for Christmas as well.
“We’re kind of a work in progress now that there are grandkids. That makes a big difference,” Vassos admitted. “You don’t want to leave your house at Christmastime. So I always do Christmas. I will keep that, and I get to keep that because I have grandkids now. They come over to my house.”
