On December 9, Prime Video gave viewers a first look at Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia in their new romantic thriller series, 56 Days. Based on the book by Catherine Ryan Howard of the same title, “56 Days follows Oliver (Jogia) and Ciara (Cameron), who, after meeting randomly in a supermarket, fall for each other fast and dangerously hard.”
But there’s a catch: “Fifty-six days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified body—brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed. Did he kill her? Did she kill him? Intercutting between an intense single day in the present investigation and the twisted trajectory of the young lovers’ affair in the past, the series is both a unique crime story and a riveting, sexy, psychological thriller.”

What is 56 Days about?
While Prime Video has only revealed a brief plot synopsis, eager fans can turn to the novel to learn a little more about Oliver Kennedy and Ciara Wyse’s deadly romance. Catherine Ryan Howard writes, “No one knew they’d moved in together. Now one of them is dead. Could this be the perfect murder?” Our verdict: Absolutely.
According to Howard, “Ciara and Oliver meet in a supermarket queue in Dublin the same week Covid-19 reaches Irish shores.” Twenty-one days later, Oliver suggests that Ciara move in with him ahead of the country’s lockdown. However, 35 days after that, “Detectives arrive at Oliver’s apartment to discover a decomposing body inside.” Is the body really Ciara? Did Oliver invite a killer into his home? Could it be a secret third option? Only time will tell!
Prime Video has not yet released information about the setting or timing of this story, so the Irish, early COVID-era setting could definitely change, but we’d expect to see many similarities between Catherine Ryan Howard’s book and the Prime Video series.

Who has been cast in 56 Days?
Former Disney Channel and Nickelodeon stars Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia have been cast as Ciara and Oliver in this sexy thriller. Cameron is best known for playing the main twins in Disney’s Liv and Maddie and Mal in Descendants. Jogia got his start playing Beck on Victorious, and later starred in the book-to-screen adaptation of Twisted. Aside from Cameron and Jogia, Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder) has been cast as Lee Reardon, and Dorian Missick (Shirley) as Karl Connolly.

When does 56 Days premiere?
56 Days is set to premiere in mid-February. All episodes will drop on February 18, 2026. That gives you just enough time to get your hands on the book and give it a read before the adaptation hits the small screen.
