Following a busy fall as a judge on Dancing With the Stars and in his new role as the host of Extra, Derek Hough is preparing for the birth of his first child with wife Hayley Erbert.

Erbert, who previously danced in the Dancing With the Stars troupe from Seasons 21 to 27, opened up to Swooon about how her husband has been a rock for her amid her pregnancy, despite his grueling schedule.

“Derek has been incredible,” Erbert, who recently partnered with Wellness Pet Company to launch the Wellness Supper Club, gushed. “He’s been so hands-on and present, and he always makes sure I feel supported, no matter how busy life gets. Watching him balance everything while still prioritizing our family has been really amazing.”

The professional dancer also said she “can’t wait” to see Hough’s “joy in this new role” as a dad. “He has such a big heart and so much love to give, and I know that becoming a dad is going to bring out an entirely new side of him,” she added.

When it comes to being a first-time mom herself, Erbert admitted she’s “looking forward to the small moments” that “make up the real heart of daily life,” including “the snuggles, all the firsts, the routines we build, the traditions that grow over time.” She acknowledged that this is “the start of a whole new chapter” in her life that she “couldn’t be more excited for.”

Even though this will be Hough and Erbert’s first human baby, they’re already parents to two dogs, Romie and Luna, and three cats, Palo, Otis, and Lily. Being a “proud cat mom” helped Erbert’s partnership with Wellness Pet Company come together “so naturally.”

“I’ve always believed that mealtimes are one of the most meaningful ways we show love to our pets, and I’m always finding little ways to include my cats at our own table,” Erbert explained. “The best way our pets feel love is through what we feed them, so when Wellness Pet Company, a brand we’ve used and loved for years, reached out, the idea instantly felt right.”

Erbert collaborated with the brand on “creating a guide that could help other pet parents bring their cats into these moments at home,” and they eventually launched the Wellness Supper Club Guide.

“It’s all about elevating everyday experiences and making our pets feel like they truly belong, especially during a season when gathering around the table means so much,” Erbert shared. “Just like I love mixing up flavors and recipes at dinner, my cats love variety too. Wellness Pet has more than 100 wet cat food varieties, so I can keep their meals exciting with new textures and proteins while knowing every bite supports hydration and the five signs of wellbeing: sustained energy, healthy digestion, healthy skin and coat, immune health, and healthy teeth and bones.”

Meanwhile, when it comes to the fur babies getting a new brother or sister, Erbert has no qualms that they’ll take to the child. “They’ve been around kids before, and they’re incredibly gentle and curious,” she confirmed. “We’ve already started preparing them by introducing baby items, sounds, and routines, and they’ve taken everything in stride. I think they will be protective, loving, and maybe a little confused at first, but in the sweetest way.”
