In Swooon‘s exclusive preview of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Luke Berry and Madelein Perez go from daydreaming about their married life to arguing over shared finances, all in the span of two minutes.
The sneak peek of Luke and Madeleine shows them looking over blueprints of the gorgeous vista lot where construction is set to begin on their boutique hotel and new home. However, things take a turn when Luke tells Madelein that she can choose one lot to share, with the rest of the paperwork and ownership remaining in his name. Up until then, Madelein thought that, as a married couple, their new business venture would be fully shared.
After gushing over the location, Luke tells Madelein, “So I mean, we’ll just keep going with the plan like we talked about. Like, we’re gonna get married, we’re gonna start a life together. So whatever lot that you want for us to live in, I don’t mind putting that in our name.”
Taken aback, Madelein responds, “I don’t understand. You know it’s not just one lot we’re going to share.” However, Luke continues to say that only his name will be on the contract. “I’m still going to keep these under my name because all of this is coming from the investment that I put in for this. So to clarify everything that we saw today, they’re going to go in my name, and I’ll put a lot in our name.”
According to Madelein, she and Luke had previously discussed sharing the business as well. Lucky for us, footage of that conversation is readily available to settle the score. Looking back, Madelein is actually right, Luke did say they would both sign. He told her, “I want to do the business venture with you… Yes, we can compromise. We will have a lot in our name.”
While Luke maintains that the business venture will be in his name only, viewers get a closer look at how he actually feels. At the end of the preview, he admits, “I don’t really want to put our name on anything because I don’t want to get divorced the next day and lose half my s**t.”
