Alert the ton! It’s long been debated which couple will lead Bridgerton Season 5: Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela (Masali Baduza) or Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Phillip (Chris Fulton)? Fans have yet to get any hints from Season 4 ahead of its release, but a recent development has some thinking that Philoise is, indeed, coming next.
What’s the basis for the speculation? Well, it’s certainly something. Beyond Bridgerton author Julia Quinn’s Philoise-related Instagram post from earlier this year, Fulton is returning to the Bridgerton universe — in a way.
Fulton is set to attend his first show-related event next year. He’ll be in attendance at The Diamond Gala in the United Kingdom next February — around the same time that the second half of Season 4 drops on Netflix.
The actor, who has only briefly appeared in a handful of Bridgerton episodes at this point, hasn’t been involved in promoting the show until now, so a number of fans pointed out the timing of his appearance. “How convenient that Chris Fulton’s FIRST Bridgerton event happens to be the day after Part 2 releases and he will be attending it with bridgerton regulars Adjoa and Martins.🤔🤭,” says one Reddit comment. “Could mean nothing 👀”
Another added more succinctly, “Oh Philoise S5 is in the bag.”
Others took to X to chime in on Fulton’s upcoming appearance. “Cant believe chris is attending an event to represent bridgerton with some of the cast the day after part 2 drops,” a fan wrote. “Like thats so crazy y’all. he is out of the trenches. we are out of the trenches.”
While the event has prompted a good portion of fans to look further ahead to Season 5, it’s also made others wonder whether or not the actor could return a bit sooner — though Philip and Eloise don’t officially meet in person until Eloise runs away from home, according to Quinn’s To Sir Philip, With Love. However, they started exchanging letters the year prior.
